Is Rick Warren ashamed of Jesus?
Muslim Woman: "Islam Is All About Living A Purpose-Driven Life" | The Submerging Church | Discernment About the Emergent Church
It is sad to see one who could have stood up for the Gospel of Jesus Christ be reduced to a comprimising, narcissistic failure. His comprimising seems to have become a way of life. Recently he said... -
Rick Warren-What is the King's Way Document?
Anyone know what this document is and contains that seems to be at the heart of his latest brouhaha? -
An Open Bible and an Open Mind
I am going through old records and compiling them into an archive. During this I ran across papers signed by Penrose St. Amant from 1975. Being curious I conducted an Internet search and ran across the following:
1. He was a dean at Southern in Louisville for ten years.
2. He was the president of the Baptist Seminary in Ruschlikon, Switzerland.
3. He was a noted historian.
......and more.... -
Confessions and creeds
What are the pros and cons on some of the great creeds and confessions of the faith (Nicene, Apostles, Athanasian, 1689 LBC, 2000 BF&M et al.)? I understand there will be an objection to the 1689 LBC because it is a Reformed confession, but it is a historical Baptist document. If crews and confessions rightly articulate biblical doctrine can they not be useful secondary documents, condensing and emphasizing what Scripture teaches on certain subjects? -
Eternal Damnation
it is taught that the penalty for rejecting salvation through Jesus Christ is eternal damnation. Since Jesus bore the sins of the world on the cross at Calvary, how is it that Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father? Shouldn't the Son be in everlasting torment? -
What Bonhoeffer really taught - adapted from a paper by Don Jasmin
Dietrich Bonhoeffer
General Teachings/Activities *
Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) was a neo-orthodox German theologian, pastor, preacher, radio broadcaster, and prolific writer in the 1930s and early-1940s, during the rise, rule, and downfall of Adolph Hitler. He was greatly fascinated with neo-orthodox thought, theology, and terminology, and was greatly influenced by the major theologian of neo-orthodoxy, Karl Barth (1886-1968). Bonhoeffer's writings are credited with helping to father... -
How many books do you own?
Got nearly everything moved into my new place. One thing I have noticed is that I have way too many books…. Books I have not looked at since 2002 or before. Why keep so many books when I do not refer to them often? I am gonna start downsizing books. Got allot of psycho-babble, Charismatic, and self-help nonsense from the old days. Joel Osteen, Bill Johnson, Randy Clark, Webber, Jon Acuff, Homer Rice, and others need to go to the trash.
Prior to the move I had 300+ books. I probably lost... -
The "children of God" in John 11:51,52
Greetings!
In John 11:51,52, Caiaphas prophesizes “that Jesus should die for that nation; And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.”
I believe that this verse is saying that Jesus would die for the nation of Israel (NOT limited atonement), but that He also died for the purpose of “gathering together in one” the children of God.
Who do you consider these “children of God” to be?
1. the Jews that were... -
The fallen nature of Man
I want to address just one aspect of the fallen nature of man in this thread and that is the fact that it is the same problem since the fall in Genesis three and has not changed from that time till now.
Some on this forum hold to the erroneous belief that man is not conceived in the womb in a state of spiritual separation from God. However, by passing that argument for the moment, what I want to deal with is what should be common ground. Since Genesis all who have come to age where they... -
Those who concede errors in the Scriptures n order to remove conflict with science
John A. Broadus
Professor of New Testament Interpretation and Homiletics,
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1859 – 1895)
The inspired writers learned many things by observation or inquiry, but they were preserved by the Holy Spirit from error whether in learning or in writing these things. …Those who concede errors in the Scriptures as to matter of fact, in order to remove conflict with some scientific opinions of our time, may tell us that they have great satisfaction in being at...
