A poem I wrote
The Purpose
By: luke2427
Twas not some need in God that moved his sovereign hand
To build the universe… so vast, complex and grand.
It was not loneliness within the Triune God,
That drove him to create man from earthen sod.
Perish the thought from earth that God could ever be,
Dissatisfied within His self-sufficiency!
Father, Son and Spirit throughout eternity,
E’er basked in glowing joy of each other’s company.
In time preceding time, before creation’s birth,
When naught but... -
Could this be Paul?
Revelation 2:2
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: -
Multi-site Churches: Good or Bad
So what do you think?
Here is a short blog post by J. D. Greear
Here is an article by Dr. Hammett that I would like to get my hands on that discuss it in a more "scholarly way": -
Baptist Seeks Donations to Open Tavernacle
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
John Smith, a Reformed Baptist pastor near Kittaning, along with his son, Ben "Dennis" Smith, an admissions counselor at Geneva College, and Ben Duncan, who leads worship at his church, are aiming to raise $35,000 in donations via Kickstarter.com to open a brewpub. They will sell their own beer on draft, by the half gallon to go, and in kegs.
The planned pub, Reclamation Brewing Co., will feature their 'Carey Me Home India Pale Ale' and 'Spurgeon's Chocolate... -
Did God Allow the President a Second Term?
It is my opinion based upon Matthew 7:13-14 [the narrow path to heaven is not as heavily traveled as the wide road to hell] meaning there are tons of folks who are influenced by the devil and, or, the opinions of the world they live in, and it was the road widely traveled that served to cast the votes that elected Obama to the second term.
Then in Romans 1:26, we see that "God gave them over to their own vile understandings!" which to me means that mankind is on its own when it comes to... -
Fixing America may be just too painful for all of us!
The problem in our country and with it's worsening economy is that this liberal; Bleeding-heart group of politicians continue to allow illegal aliens to live and work here, and in turn these individuals not only take jobs from Americans [causing the unemployed and underemployed to depend on the government for assistance to live], the illegal's are entitled to free medical care [something Americans pay for with ever increasing fees/co pays and pays and inflated premiums], food stamps [our... -
The Coming Assault on Christianity
Whilst it has been going on for some time....I think it is going to get much worse and very soon..... the re-election of a socialistic/communist President will facilitate the secularists ability to increase their Anti-Christian agenda.
My question is what should Baptists do? Should we get more involved in Politics? Or is there something else we can do to prepare for the persecution that is rapidly descending upon us?
I think too many are in denial to the very real threats we... -
Exegetical examination of Romans 4:6-8
Romans 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
1. "even as" - Greek "kathaper" is an adverb used 13 times in the New Testament and is translated in the KJV as 7, even as 5, as well as 1; 13 and shows connection between something previously said before with something... -
A service for worship & nothing else?
In another thread, Luke said this:
(FROM LUKE2427): The Bible is very clear that the space about the throne of God will exude a particular atmosphere- one that is most conducive to the worship of the God who is holy, omnipotent, transcendent, beautiful, etc...
Each week every church should want to have at least one service dedicated primarily, if not exclusively, to worship. That service should seek as much as possible to simulate that atmosphere.
Other services can be devoted...
