Once Saved, Always Saved
What is the Scriptural basis for the doctrine of Once Saved, Always Saved? -
Did Adam and Eve have free will before the fall?
If not, then did God want them to sin? Is so, did their free will change after the fall? -
Were the tongues the same?
In his thread on 1 Cor. 12-14, awaken and I disagreed on whether or not the tongues in Acts and 1 Cor. were the same or not. I asked him to prove that they were the same, and he thought he did. But frankly, I was just getting started. For the record, I believe the tongues in Acts 2 were a miraculous ability to witness of Christ to others in their own languages, which the disciples had not learned. But the tongues in Corinth were simply languages (the port of Corinth was bound to have many... -
Ignorance-OK, Ignorance+Arrogance- EVIL
It is okay to be ignorant and uneducated if you have not had access to that which would make you wiser.
There is nothing evil about that.
But that ignorance becomes EXTREMELY EVIL when it is coupled with arrogance.
That arrogance is revealed when people who have no reason to think that they have sufficient knowledge of something go ahead and preach their ideas anyway.
I think many educated Christians miss this. They see people spew all kinds of ignorance on a site like baptistboard and... -
Poll: Who of these four people is really saved?
I am curious how readers of this forum would respond to the following situation (this is not a trap to prove any doctrinal/denominational point):
Four persons, John, Jane, Bob and Betty, who profess to be Christians are asked this question: How do you know that you are saved?
All four answer this question with the exact same reply: “I know that I am saved because God says in his Word, the Bible, that if a person will believe, by faith, in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and... -

The Doctrines of Grace
It appears to me that there are many on this Forum who do not understand the Doctrines of Grace, called Calvinism by many. My purpose in starting another thread on the Doctrines of Grace is:
1. In hope that those on this Board who believe the Doctrines of Grace will express their understanding of these Doctrines in a gracious manner, and
2. In hope that those who reject these Doctrines will respond in like manner.
A few years ago Dr Albert Mohler, president of Southern Seminary,... -
My Church Hasn't had Communion for Two and a Half Years!
Whew! I've been wanting to say that here for a long time. This is another one of the issues I mentioned in another thread. Don't bother going to check on my profile to see where I attend, I've removed the church name AND I'll see who visited my page.
My church has not had communion since it was started over 2 years ago. I've asked the pastor about this and I get a somewhat run-around answer of "since we are a church plant and are still under the auspices of the planting church I can't give... -
What is a Calvanist?
I seriously do not know.
You see, the " traditional" church I may go back to, had an issue a few years back. Pastors son was starting to take over some of the preaching and began teaching calavinist teachings. This was contrary to what the pastor, his father, always preached.
The pastor decided he had to relieve his son of his duties because he was teaching another doctorine. Half the people stayed at that church and the other half followed the son who now has his own church. Other... -
Church Membership
Hi All,
I wanted to toss this out and see what comes back.
A regular attender, but non-member, cannot vote in church business meetings; cannot handle the church finances, but is allowed to handle God's word as a Sunday School teacher.
I've been praying about whether or not to speak with the pastor about it. I certainly don't want to "be" the pastor or involve myself any deeper than I should. I hold no particular position in the church other than a being faithful, praying, giving...
