Literalism is a fatal disease
Let me repeat "Literalism is a fatal disease". This according to a well know member of this forum.
Think about this for a minute. If the wages of sin are death then it stands to reason that taking some the words of our Lord as given to us in the Holy Bible seriously is a sinful. Are we to imply that those who make this claim believe that others who dare to take certain some of the words of Scripture literally will not enter into the Fathers house?
What about the concept that if some... -
The Signs of the End of the Age
In our Bible study this last Sunday we began a study of the Book of Judges which through out is a history of Israels falling away and their restoration. This is recorder several time in this Book as well as many more times in the Old Testament. Israel would rebel and fall away, Go into ruin, Repent and be restored time after time. This brings me to my point.
When studing the bible you must look first to whom it is written, to Children of Israel (Gods Chosen People) or The Church to whom most... -

My initial thoughts on Eternal Security by Charles Stanley
Got Eternal Security by Stanley today and started the read. So far I have seen statements that should have been re-worded, however he clearly condemns those whom are not Lordship on p. ix. However in other parts of the book that I skimmed I saw that he does not argue his case as strong as John MacArthur in some of his books. However MacArthur's Gospel According to Jesus is a very technical read that only a few can understand, while Stanley writes for the average Christian. I will read more….... -
Guarding the Silences of the Bible.
A Quote, a question, and a Link.
QUOTE, From Connected Christianity, a book by Arturo G Azurdia III:
"The moral person lives by a self-determined definition of right and wrong and delights to impose it on other people...The holy person yields to the Word of God as the final authority, which, in turn compels him to guard the silences of the Bible and, therefore, honor the freedoms these allow among those who serve the same Savior."
QUESTION: What biblical interpretational principles can we... -
Open membership threatens Baptists’ most central distinctive
Baptists have not always agreed among themselves on doctrinal or ethical issues, but they have had some common beliefs that they have defended and on which they have been united. When one of these is challenged or rejected, the Baptist community is likely to be in a crisis as to how to respond.
Currently a movement has been launched to convince Baptist churches to adopt open membership. That means that Baptist churches should no longer insist that all people received into membership... -
Whose Son is YHVH, the Christ?
In Matthew 22 we read the following...
41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask... -
Baptist churches that claim to use the "King James Bible AV 1611"
Why do so many Baptist churches claim to use the 1611 King James Bible when they really use the updated spelling version produced in 1769?
For example, this site, which lists websites, talks about being "AV 1611 compliant". However, at the top of the page is the following quotation from Psalm 12:
"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever" (Psalm... -
What Does Filled With the Spirit Feel Like?
After reading the thread on the Holy Spirit, started by awaken, I thought I'd throw this out for discussion without derailing his thread.
So, here are the questions for discussion:
Have any of you ever been filled with the Spirit?
How did you know?
What did it feel like?
Were there any outward manifestations of it?
Was this filling connected to any event (revival, church service, etc)?
Now, this: I am a soloist. Sometimes, when I am singing, I become aware that I am singing better... -

As if the 1769skirts.com were too immodest?
