Am I rightly dividing the word of truth?
John 14:16,17 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; The Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Who will receive it?
John 15:16,17 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask... -
what is the true significance of water baptism?
Is water baptism necssary for any other reason than the fact that Jesus commanded us to do it? In every incident in scripture baptism and the act of repentence go hand in hand and baptism is immediately subsequent to faith and repentence. Why do we tell people to rather wait and require them to attend baptismal classes, neither of which are scriptual. Is water baptism related to salvation? When Paul says in Ephesians that there is one baptism which one is he talking about and since he only... -
Perfect Knowledge
Perfect Knowledge is rooted in God's omniscience. God knows all things. He knows all things before they happen. What He knows He knows perfectly. Completely. He knows every contingency and variable. He knows not only the circumstance, but every minute detail; from the leaf blowing down the street to an asteroid tumbling through the farthest universe. He knows the hearts, minds, and motivations of men. Nothing that He claims to know, which is all things, can be questioned. He is the... -
What does consistent error look like?
Here is our friend Roger Olson......at it again...:laugh::wavey:
In a recent post, Roger stirred up a hornet’s nest by suggesting that “Arminians should not pray to God to save their friends and loved ones.”

It was counted for Righteousness !
Gen 15:6
And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
Rom 4:3
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
What was counted to Abraham for Righteousness ? The antichrist crowd have sorely abused this passage, and would have us believe that Paul is teaching here as well as Moses in the previous in Gen 15 that God counts one Righteous because of an act of believing ! You see, it cannot mean that because... -
Foreknowledge/election and honest invitation
Arminians argue that the foreknowledge/election of God that is mentioned in scripture refers to God looking through time (Since God exists outside of time) and seeing who will believe the gospel message and God then responds to that choice of man by choosing them to be His elect.
If this argument is true, it raises Questions:
1. Since God has already seen, before the foundation of the world, who will believe and who will not, how can any arminian preacher honestly say that salvation is... -
Is excepting Jesus as your personal savior a "work"
Seems its Gods work through you
James 2:24
King James Version (KJV)
24*Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. -
"Targeting" and Soteriology
I just read an article on a church leaders web site which talked about the value of reaching out to men. They used this stat:
"If a child comes to Christ first, there is a 6% chance the entire family will. If a wife/mother comes to Christ first, there is an 18% chance the entire family will. If the husband/father comes to Christ first, there is a 94% chance the entire family will. "
How does your soterilogical view affect how you respond to a point like this? And if this stat is... -
Talk about.......
......high pressure tactics!!
I'm sure most of us have experienced or heard invitations that have dragged on and on ("We're gonna sing that hymn until SOMEONE comes forward," etc.)
Well, I just heard a.....shall we say......"different" approach:
OK folks, Peter denied Christ three times. Now, we're only gonna sing "Just As I Am" three times & that's it!!! We'll just see how many of you folks are gonna deny Christ like Peter did!!!!"
Hmmm.............
What think ye? -
The Eternal Subjugation of Christ to the Father.
Here is How I read 1 Corinthians 15:24-28 (My Notes underlined and bracketed):
Then comes the end, when he [Christ...see previous verses] delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he [Christ] must reign until he [Christ] has put all his [Christ's] enemies under his [Christ's] feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For “God [the Father] has put all things in subjection under his [Christ's] feet.” But when it says, “all...
