Dr. Danny Akin’s Article on Calvinism
"...However, some issues in the Bible are more obscure. There is often a mystery and tension to what we find when we examine all that the Bible says on some subjects. This is clearly the case when it comes to understanding God’s sovereignty and human responsibility in salvation.
Unfortunately, there is more heat than light in many instances with shrill voices and unhealthy rhetoric — on both sides of the issue — getting too much attention. On one side you hear people saying that God hates... -
Do You Have the Right to Bear Arms?
Here's an interesting poll in USA Today. You can take this poll, as well as the one attached as a BB poll.

Faith plus right beliefs
Is faith alone required for salvation, or faith plus right beliefs? Some on here who claim to believe in faith alone actually do not because they add on right beliefs as being necessary for salvation -- read the "Coptic Christians" thread.
So, I ask: since Methodists, Anglicans, Lutherans, Presbyterians and others teach and practice infant baptism and sacramental theology, and Baptists consider this false doctrine, are people in these denominations saved? What about Church of Christ?... -
Incapacitation of the will
Article 2: Denial:
We deny that Adam’s sin resulted in the incapacitation of any person’s free will or rendered any person guilty before he has personally sinned. While no sinner is remotely capable of achieving salvation through his own effort, we deny that any sinner is saved apart from a free response to the Holy Spirit’s drawing through the Gospel.
There seems to be some controversy here on both parts of the first sentence. Here I wonder only about the first part. Doesn't... -
New Names for the Opposing Sides of a Split SBC
In order to provide some honest transparency which would accurately reflect the doctrines preached from each side as well as would also reveal the differences, how would you name each side so people would be able to knnow what they are truly getting into?
I might suggest:
VG-SBC (Volitional Grace SBC)
And
PG-SBC (Predetermined Grace SBC)

Theology: The bible and systems
For the first time in my life, I'm in a ministerial situation where some of my colleagues pit systematic theology against biblical theology. I had NEVER thought of the two in such a way. I understand that we must be cautious in our study of systematic so that we don't rely on the system or practically "canonize" them, but I still don't see the two at odds.

Tasted death for every man !
Heb 2:9
9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
The false teachers have had a field day with their wilful ignorance and perversion of this text, Alleging that it teaches that Jesus Christ has by the Grace of God tasted death for all mankind without exception, and yet that is not what it says, but that He tasted death for[in behalf of] every or... -
T, U, L and I of the Tulip
Four of the five points of the TULIP are false doctrines according to my view of scripture. Proponents of these views claim other equally viable views are possible.
Lets take them in the order preferred by Calvinists, starting with "Total Spiritual Inability" and crank through to "Irresistible Grace."
The doctrine of total spiritual inability claims that the Bible teaches fallen natural men of flesh, before they are regenerated, cannot respond in a way to the gospel message such... -
The Nature of the Incarnation - Dual or Single?
Did Jesus have two natures or one? After his resurrection did he and does he presently maintain this status?
I am reading a book on the Incarnation. It, no doubt, discusses the Nicene The Nicene Creed and Chalcedonian Chalcedonian Creed (A. D. 451) | CARM Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry creeds.
As I understand, the reason for the... -
Primitive Baptists
Are there any Primitive Baptists on this forum?
I had a good PB friend here years ago by the name of Jeff Weaver. I have been able to make contact with him; last I heard from him, he was in very bad health.
Strange as it seems, being so far apart theologically, I have had good relationships with PB's. They have been much less abrasive and accusatory than many Southern Baptist Calvinists I have known.
