Jer. 31: Spiritual Israel's Hopeful Future: Christ
Spiritual Israel's Hopeful Future: Christ
These articles on Jeremiah are not meant to be exhaustive (that would be exhausting to even attempt!), but just suggestive comments here and there.
Jeremiah 31 is rich with spiritual fulfillments for Israel, though written in the lengthening shadow of one of their most dark periods. There is comfort here for both believing Jew and Gentile. The return of Israel here and God's gathering of all His people (31:10) is also a description of the... -

Censoring Choir Music
My church used to make the choir sing censored versions of some songs. For example, if a song had the H-word, D-word, or W-word, we had to change it or we couldn't sing it. Here are some examples:
Dirty version: "Let the people dance/ let the people sing/ 'Worthy is the mighty King.'"
Clean version: "Let the people shout/ let the people sing/ 'Worthy is the mighty King.'"
Dirty version: "I lift my hands in total praise to You."
Clean version: "I lift my voice in total praise to You."... -
By Who's Righteousness?
By Who's righteousness are we saved?
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith. (Philippians 3:8-9)
But now the righteousness of God has been... -
Knocking on Whose door? Rev. 3:20 Biblically reclaimed
Knocking on Whose door?
Rev. 3:20 Biblically reclaimed
There are so many misunderstandings on some of our most familiar verses that sometimes the task of setting things right seems overwhelming. Maybe the best way to do it is to tackle it the way I used to have to get my weeds under control - one at a time. The first weed - one I have had my eye on for some time - is this misapplication of Revelation 3:20. Here is the passage:
14. "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:

Christ the Advocate !
Christ the Advocate !
1 Jn 2:1-2
1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
Now to whom is Christ the Righteous an Advocate in behalf of ? First let's define this Office of His .
It is the greek word paraklētos and is defined as:

How many books are you reading?
Its very sad that many in the church do not like reading theology, apologetics, and history books, but instead will read self-help, and fiction books. Sad as it is but most of the folks in my singles class do not read many books, and if they do its fiction, or self-help. My roommate also does not like reading books. Sure he has read popular books like Radical, Francis Chan and other evangelical best sellers, but thats it. Finding like minded book fellowship on FB is hard, so I have this... -

Is Foot Washing an Ordinance at Your Church?
We take for granted that water (by submersion) baptism, and communion are ordinances observed at most Evangelical churches. But, I was wondering how many churches practice the ordinance of foot washing the week between Palm Sunday and Easter?
And what Scripture do you use to support this as an ordinance?
Just thinking, maybe some of you can fill in the lbanks!!! -
