What's all the middle stuff for???
To piggie back off of a book I just finished:
Many classic Christians creeds speak of Jesus' virgin birth and skip right to his death and resurrection. So if that is the important parts (the "fundamentals") then why did the 4 evangelists spend so much time on the middle part, i.e. Jesus' life and ministry? What is the theological point to it (if any)?

Should women be allowed to baptize?
I am asking that only those who do not believe women should be ordained ministers or be allowed to preach respond to this thread.
If the authority to administer ordinances is given to the church:
1) Are Pastoral/ordained ministerial staff the only ones allowed to baptize?
2) if not, then provided the "authority" to baptize/administer the ordinances belongs to the local church body, should a female member be allowed to baptize another woman?

Ethics Question
Perhaps someone knows a Missionary who has actually done this, but if you are smuggling bibles into a closed country, and boarder guards ask you what's in your trunk, or if you are smuggling anything illegal...what do you say?
If you lie, what is the ethical justification for lying...or do you try to sneak in without actually lying, but if it comes down to it, simply tell the truth and offer the guy a bible? -

Pardon by Grace or by Works?
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Here is the command from the prophet Isaiah to the wicked showing them the way to receive a pardon from their sins. Notice that the commands are direct and involve the individual doing something to receive a pardon. Was the prophet preaching a pardon via works? Why or why not?
