Vista’s grass will turn blue for music festival beginning Friday

More than 40 acres of green rolling farmland will serve as a suitable backdrop for Vista’s Summergrass 2008 — an annual weekend festival celebrating the tradition and spirit of bluegrass music.

A dozen well-known local bluegrass artists and musicians from across the country will perform throughout the day and evening on the main stage, but the music won’t stop when the stage shuts down.

Every year, after the nightly shows, festivalgoers meet to catch up and play into the night in the campgrounds.

More than 3,500 bluegrass fans are expected to attend the three-day event, at the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum in Vista — a 30-year-old outdoor museum featuring exhibits on early California farms from 1849 to 1949.
