In this time of ecomic crisis we can't afford to do everything. What should our highest priority be?

What's an ecomic crisis ? After all, you are the one who claims to be highly educated. Can't vote in a po;; when I don't know the subject line.

    We need both...

A military that provides for our national security which by definition then would be superior to all others... and we need to continue to care for the truly needy among our citizens.

How much food and medical support do the folks who died in the WTC on 9-11 need today?

I would like to vote both... However, I don't see a threat to our current superiority so we can focus on number 2.

Not all counties participated in 9/11. The aid the pirates took was going to Kenya.

I just noticed I spelled "poll" wrong. Heh.

But how long are we going to buy this "feed the poor" garbage. $0 years of a war on poverty, and 7o years of FDR socialism, we only have rich politicians, and more poor than ever before.

    The poll is ridiculous.

The question was "What should America;s top priority be?" My question: is America the govt, or America the individual?

As a govt, I voted to military power. As individuals, yes of course we should help with the needy (not the greedy!).

In fact for the Federal govt to spend money on medical, food, housing for individuals is actually unconstitutional.

Of course it is unconstitutional. The federal government has not followed the Consitution in decades, and that goes for both major parties. The military is part of the function of the federal government, as is commerce, the mail, currency and treaties among others. The social net, if it is a government function, should be a state and local government issue, along with education. If we were the nation we should be, the social net would be taken care of by local churches and families.

Of course once the US looses it's ability to defend itself, it's national interests, and the interests of freedom loving countries around the world - caring for the needy won't any longer even be an option.

I don't like either one of those choices given in the poll. I don't think we need to be a "world" military leader, but I think that we need to keep our defense(s) beefed up here on our turf.

Its great to feed people who need it, but we have many people here in our own country that need help. If we can't take care of our own, how can we be expected to take care of others?

I think our priority should be national defense. When I say national defense, I am referring to making sure our military / national guard has plenty of supplies, personnel, & weaponry (should they need it) to accomplish missions. This also includes during emergency situations when they are called in for natural disasters. National defense also has to do with protecting our borders. That means keeping illegal aliens from hopping across our borders. I would even dare call a 10 year timeout on all immigration until we can regroup.

"What should America's top priority be?"

To get out of the United Nations and the New World Order so we can return to being an indpendendent nation with the best republican form of government that ever was.

Until such a time we'll just continue to be a giant cash cow while sacrificing our young men and women in order to defend and maintain the global empires of every transnational banker and multinational corporation there is.

Yeah, that too. I consider that part of national defense.

But I have "fat fingers." Let's talk about substance not misspellings. OK?

I voted for meeting the needs of the poor because I cannot find any Christian mandate in the bible for military world supremecy.
