I know in my own life, that when God puts me back into a painful experience, it's because I didn't learn what He wanted me to the first time. IOW, it wasn't God who moved me out of the experience...it was me convincing myself that He did.

I don't know if it's true, but I heard that the 40 days the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness would have only taken three days if they had been obedient.

I have no idea what you're talking about, Donna, and this may not be the case with you. I just thought I'd share why "I" usually have to go back. Sometimes more than once.

 

He can and has. God' purpose of/for that trial may not be finished. Being put back in the situation may not even be for the person's growth or benefit, but for that of another.

I love the tapestry analogy. We are on the back side of the tapestry of God's plan. All we see are tangled threads, twisted knots, and no pattern to it all. one day we will get to move to God's side of the tapestry and then we will see His plan in all its splendor.

 

I believe the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness a bit longer than 40 days, at least according to my Bible. Like about 360 times that long.

I could have several thoughts on this. Let us see what my fingers type.

1. There is a saying that insanity is when you do the same thing over and over and expect a different result. Maybe you should change the way you do or percieve things.

2. I have never known God to "remove me" from a painful situation. He has done the following:
* Given me the grace to get through the situation.
* Changed the situation.
* Changed my attitude and/or perception about the situation.
* Let me heal enough from the situation to move on to a different situation.
* Let me mature so I can move through the situation.
* Let me wallow in the situation until I got over insanity.

3. I have never gone back to situations that God has allowed me to get out of. Heck no.

 

Since it is a very vague question, I suppose only a very vague response can do. All suffering, whether we feel were experiencing the same thing for a second or even third time, has the same purpose - to keep us near the Lord. Remember: His strength is made sufficient in our weakness. It is during those times of trials and difficulty that God is growing us the most. And though it will not seem at the time like He has this end in mind - it is after the dust has settled, and the calm of His presence returns in our life, we see the great and glorious work He has done.
