Leather Lung Preacher and Whosoever Will Preacher

Someone who's long winded :laugh: No I think it's someone who can speak loudly.

 

You might ask them what a leather lung preacher is.

You can bet that they sure don't want in iron lung preacher! :laugh:

 

I agree with the others about the leather lung preacher. Probably a "whosoever will" preacher is not a Calvinist.

I guess by putting it that way they will limit who sends in a resume.

I guess if they get a loud, long winded liberal, they'll be happy. :laugh: :tonofbricks:

 

I have preached at that church 3 or 4 times. They want someone who will preach the gospel without all the seeker friendly interference. They definitely are not reformed. That is an amen hold nothing back kind of church. They want you to preach on sin and step on their toes. They do not want a liberal just a very conservative unapologetic preacher of the gospel.

Whosoever Will

Whatever happened to seeking God's will for a pastor instead of what we desire? Doesn't calling have a role in pastoring a church anymore?

I agree with some of the other posters.. They seek a loud general baptist pastor... Maybe because they don't have a good PA system?

 

I haven't purposely sat under a leather lung in a long time. Don't scream at me.

 

Having been there screaming is not what they are wanting.

 

Ditto. Why all the screaming? Is that old skool/ pre-PA system days?

Or do they think yelling is how you keep attention?

 

My understanding is that a "whosoever will" preacher is one that will preach within the whole gospel and not ignore parts of the Bible in order to satisfy his own unscriptual beliefs. A preacher who believes and preaches that God's Word is not to conform to the worlds view, in other words, what was righteous yesterday will be righteous tommorrow so that means today is the average of the first two.

 

Not when compared to the success syndrome of today.

 

They mock God by their actions in looking at profiles and success. Today we are seeing many successful men fall because they only have "success" but lack godliness.

They have forgotten Is. 55:8,9, "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts."

Personality profile--what's that? high d? I can't sing a low "d"!

I have a personality, as opposed to the skim-milk preachers whose personality, politics, and principles change with the wind. I am a large, assertive, loud, friendly, beady-eyed snappin' turtle who has been accused by some of knowing the Word and the Author. I am addicted to Truth In Preaching.

So, how does this personality thing work? What do they do, ask a bunch of questions? If they wand a personality profile, why not observe the pastoral candidate around the bed of a lost person who is dying, or a saved person who is doubting! Do they not check to see if the person's supposed personality is REAL? I'll bet Paul, Peter, etc. would flunk this thing, whaever it is...
