Most commentaries I've read agree that the forth kingdom is Rome. I find it quite compelling that at Julius' rise to power, Rome was in political chaos. The Senate was not effective and soon, political divisions broiled into civil war. In short, Julius wound up on top and became Caesar (tyrant). As such we know the rest of the story.

Sense there is no mention of a 5th beast the ten kings to come are an extension of the 4th, as John seems to be telling us in his description of the Dragon in Revelation.

My questions are, Who are they?

Are they a confederation of the former Roman Empire?

If they are a confederation, why does Daniel indicate that these kings are past in history as if they held successive rule and not collaborative?

If they are successive rulers, who are they in history?

Could Constantine be considered one of those, a Charlemagne, Alfred the Great or any one of the historical medieval kings of Europe?

What of modern despots and conquers like Napoleon, Bismark, Hitler or Stalin?

All of these had world wide influence on all the world's known nations.

Who are the two kings that are vanquished by the last king?

These two seem to be the only ones in power at the same time. Could we be at that point in history where there are two equally powered nations that have world wide influence ie; US and Russia or US and China?

I find it very compelling that the grand modern powers can be held at bay by a loose band of pirates or a North Korean despot or Al-queda.

Could this be what God's Word meant by "Little Horn"?

Seemingly of a little band or nation he will devour the stronger or bigger kings.

Just a few thoughts that have come to mind and I do encourage you to lend yours.

    Thanks for reading.

Revelations 17 10, And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

    These are the seven Kings.

    1. Egypt, the Pharaods.

    2. Assyrian, Sennacherib.

    3. Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream begins here,
Daniel 2 38, Thou art this head of gold.

    4. Medo-Persian, Cyrus, Darius, Daniel 2 39, And after thee shall arise
    another kingdom inferior to thee.

    5. Greek, Alexander The Great. another third kingdom of brass,
which shall rule all the earth.

    6. Roman Empire, Daniel 2 40, And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron.

    7, Revived Roman Empire.
Daniel 2 42, And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay.

    8. Antichrist.

Revelation 17 11, And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

Daniel 2 44, And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed:

In the days of the Roman empire, Jesus sat up the spiritual kingdom of the church,

In the days of the Revived Roman empire, Jesus will set up the physical Kingdom of the Millennial reign.

At the time of the antichrist arrival, a one world government will be in place.

He will seize control of it from them, uprooting three of the Kings in the process.

Thank you for that post Me4Him. I don't know why I asked those questions, I knew the answers. However, it just may be that there is someone here that does not.

Again, I thank you for your response.

I would say number 7 is Roman Catholicism and the AC would be the Papal office

    There's only only "ONE",

    Elijah
    Jesus
    Son of predition/AC
    Two witnesses

History has a way of "repeating it's self", so one prophecy can cover both coming of Jesus.

If he had stopped with #6 it would have been ok. The rest of it is pure supposition with no Scriptural basis.

I've heard many say that 7 is the Revived Roman Empire, but why? Could it be something else? Some other group of ten?

For years the dispensationalists raved about what would happen when the membership in the European Union reached ten [i.e., the revived Roman empire]. Membership reached ten and more and what happened?
