Well, we have another "date setter"

I too share the hope a sooner rather than later return. The sky-watchers and date-setters however, have never been right nor will they ever be. We will not know the time of His return anymore than a Jewish bride would know of her groom's return to take her home.

I believe I'm correct in saying that this isn't the first date or time that Harold Camping has set over the years. He should learn we don't know when, we just know from the scriptures it will happen.

One thing to note, there is a whole bunch of speculation in the secular community about 2012 (particularly December 21, 2012) being the end of the world. I wouldn't be surprised to see Christians jump on this at some point.

first it was 1988, then 1993, then 2000 now this.
These are just the dates set since I can remember. My dad has told me that 1972 was a big year when he was a kid that everyone thought would be the time.

I think you could make a case that these people are in doctrinal error and sin who blatantly disregard the scriptures that say no man knows the day or hour and try to decipher when that will be.

THis is a question I would like to ask many who set dates:
If you were right on the money as far as the date but Christ returned, not to find you faithful in your proclamation of the Gospel but instead in the promotion of your own predictions, would you feel like you had failed in your duty?

I suppose many probably would not.

 

Didn't know Camping was still around- he's been doing that for a while- I remember him doing something like that back in the 1990's. Just another false prophet.

what is this date(month) supose to be based on?
if the bible says no one knows, then I believe it, no one knows, and date setters are false prophets

 

Camping predicted Christ's return for 1994 and wrote a book "1994." After nothing happened, he backtracked and tried to explain how it had come out wrong.

He also has declared the end of the church age and has been urging people to leave their church. Many have. His teachings are very destructive in this regard.

 

And if Christians jump on this, they'll be jumping in the same boat with New Agers and others, but I'm sure some will. This date has been known in the New Age community for some time -- I recall it from when I was in the New Age. It has to do with the Mayan calendar. No Christian should give any credence to this at all.

I remember doing an exegesis of the Greek in Mt. 25. The phrase that was implied was, "It's none of your business." (Man, it's been a while. I'll look up the specifics if I can find them).

It's none of our business when Jesus is to come back. We are to be ready for today. And it leaves me speechless to see people ignore directly what He said. What...do they think that Jesus has gone back on His word, and thinks they need to know a specific time/date? Pretty arrogant, IMO...not to mention completely ignores what Jesus tells them.
