He's been a liberal for years. Surprised he didn't switch a long time ago. This is no shock.

He'll not be representing PA next year. He only switched because he's getting creamed in the polls.

I can't tell the difference between the two parties anymore, anyway.

Specter's switch is easy to explain, he did not wish to face the Republican voters in the primary and explain his vote on the stimulus. Hopefully the Democrats will send him into retirement during their primary.

This can't be. Why we need to become more liberal if we are going to have a Republican party that is successful. How does one who is more liberal do so poorly in the polls?

If there is no difference in the two parties why is he "getting creamed in the polls"?

This is a very significant shift in the only remaining check of liberal power left for conservatives.

Without the filibuster, the democrats can push anything through as long as they can maintain the discipline within the party.

    peace to you:praying:

The Republican party is becoming increasingly less representative of true American values. I heard that there are 2 or 3 other Republican Senators that are seriously considering doing the same thing.

I too say good riddance. At least he will be with his kind instead of a pathetic RINO.

Now, finally, maybe we can get universal healthcare as a birthright for all Americans! The obstructionist GOP can cry and whine, but that's about it!

Great...I've always wanted most of my income to be managed by folks that fly 747's over New York, and can't run an army hospital in a sanitary fashion.

I also enjoy paying for the healthcare of illegal aliens, and those who refuse to do for themselves what I did for my family.

I don't mind helping the truly needy, but all this other garbage makes for a bitter pill...

Oh, and I also enjoy adding to the Constitution concepts such as "living wage," "right to healthcare," "right to housing," "right to marry a goat," etc.

That was an uncalled for insult. But, I'm sure rbell can hold his own. Actually, he is exactly right. You would rather turn your life, your freedom, and your money over to the government.

Actually, I suggest that most of the liberal persuasion are more interested in turning My life, My freedom, and My money, along with Your life, Your freedom, and Your money (as opposed, of course, to Their life, Their freedom, and Their money) over to the government, if the truth be actually known. :tear:
