I'm really surprised that this email hasn't been completely discreditted yet. Its been around for so long.

 

Non-Christians like to circulate rumors like that every now and then to get Christians up in arms, while they sit back and laugh at our ignorance of what's actually happening. That way, while we're busy fighting "ghosts", they're busy passing laws to take away our Christian rights.

 

Servant, this is based on a popular urban legend from the 70's (probably made up by the same people who started the rumor that Proctor and Gamble is run by the Church of Satan because of their logo) that said that Madeline Murray O'Hare (a real person and an atheist) was trying to pass a bill to outlaw Christian TV and radio ministers.

It pops up every five or six years or so and catches the attention of new Christians and people who may not have heard the story before.

It isn't true. But something that is true (although not very likely at the moment) is something called the "Fairness Doctrine", which would compel stations offering political commentary to give equal time to opposing views. Not sure how that would affect Christian broadcasting, but it wouldn't do away with it.

Something you might be interested to know is that, in spite of popular opinion, Christmas and Christmas pageants ARE allowed in schools. It's just that people have been told that they're not so loudly and for so long that people have forgotten what the laws actually say.

As for Christmas carrolling, that would be something that's decided on at the local level, so caroll all you like.

Also, just so you know, scientists have not located a doorway to Hell in Siberia, NASA's computers have not concluded that the Earth stood still for a day, Proctor and Gamble are not Satanic, Hotel California has nothing to do with Satan, and the Trilateral Commission is not sending black helicoptors to abduct your pastor.
