There has already been an identical thread on this, which ironically...you started

How is this not considered trolling

Of course a Lordship Salvationist who believes repentance is turning from a life of sin IN ORDER to receive salvation (works based salvation) would disagree. What boggles my minds is the non- LS'ers here who "Amen" Mr. "Grace to you"'s false definition of true biblical repentance.

That does hit the mark. If Jesus preached repentance (and He did) then those who don't are missing the mark........... wide left.

How does a spiritually dead person do this (turn from a life of sin, what Macarthur believes repentance to be)? Of course Jesus taught repentance...He didn't teach Macarthur's brand of repentance.

MacArthur is quick to criticize someone else but he lacks a lot himself. Until just a few years ago I lived not too far from him.

While MacArthur may sound like he knows what he believes. I have been told something different when he is personally challenged. I know some who have graduated from Masters Seminary and find everyone of them to be weak theologically as pastors. While they may be good pastors they are weak in dealing with theological issues. The graduates I know have told me that MacArthur only teaches one viewpoint on passages and does not deal with anything else. Consequently the graduates are not prepared for anything which may be different. A friend of mine who graduated from there has a doctorate and had never heard of the Mishnah. So I bought him one. When I gavce it to him he asked what it was.

OK - So a question for all of you. MUST we go over every aspect of the theology of the cross, sin, eternity and such before someone can be counted as saved? I mean, my mom knew about all of that - but didn't know the personal "Jesus LOVES you. He wants you as one of His." and when she heard that, she gave her heart to the Lord.

Does every book we read need to have the Gospel presented in it? There are lots and lots of books out there written specifically to Christians (which I believe the Purpose Driven Life is supposed to be) that do not contain the Gospel. Should we put down those books too?

I'm kind of on the fence with the PDL. But I don't think it's as horrible as many say it is. I also don't think it's the cat's pajamas like others say it is. I think it's not bad but kind of squishy. LOL

I have never heard one of MacArthur's graduates ever preach repentance from the pulpit as scripture teaches it and few ever gave an invitation.

We have to remember where MacArthur came from. If I remember right it is GARB.

Of course every four year old child should know what redemption, salvation, and repentance means while the adults do not understood discipleship :1_grouphug: while they fellowship by sucking on their coffee on Sunday morning.

We throw out most of the books of the Bible too because they do not have the gospel message in each of them.

Many claim the book is great because they have little or no focus. Too many are using it as a nickels and noses device to gain atendance and money. I have never seen God not bless people and congregations who are focused on Christ and the work he has already given them to do. Those who are making disciples never have too much time for the plentiful harvest. Those who claim there is no harvest does not know scripture teaches that the harvest is plentiful.

Too many pastors are focused on building a program church rather than a Christ centered church which makes disciples.

I have read a number of MacArthur's books and don't recall the above. Could you please provide a source.

Sarcasm. How could any child understand those things? Yet young children accept Christ and some of those become missionaries.

I remember talking to a guy from a liberal church and said to him that God will return and bring Judgment. He replied"We don't like negative stuff only positive things".

From what I know of Warren's church I am sure he requires more of the members of his church than most churches (including MacArthur's) require of their elders and deacons. I am not sure that is typical of what most think of as seeker sensitive churches.

If that's true...then I am glad. MacArthurs book"The Gospel According to Jesus" came out in 1988"the year I was saved" and that "Easy Believism" was being challenged.

How can a young child "accept Christ" if they don't understand redemption, salvation, and repentance?
