In an episode where Dr Huxtable won an award; at the end of his speech, he asked all to stand and hold hands - Cliff then said "I am an American and you are all my family"

He did not refer to race, creed, color, religion, gender ect.

Lets all take the example of Dr. Huxtable.

That's what I liked about the Cosby show & that other movie he made "Ghost Dad". It wasn't about a black family. It was about an average American family. I think that's why his show was very successful. Another show that I like that had that same kind of "crossover appeal" was "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".

Thats true, though they did handle some subjets as as a person being stopped simply for being black - then they dwelt with it, without constantly dwelling on it.

I remember watching The Flip Wilson Show----in the '70's-----right in the middle of all of the school desegragation "Hoop La"-----and didn't give watching the show a "Second" thought-----while the adults of the world then were what I would call "Nervous" and the many who needed to take medicine for the thoughts that pursued them!!!!!!

And who was that little short black dude that could dance??? Mercy, I can't remember the dude's name---he's done dead now---but he could dance up a storm----we always said that he danced like he had "Ants in his pants!!!"---------Sammy Davis, Jr------that was the man's name!!!
