Gingrich: Pelosi 'Lied,' 'Despicable,' 'Dishonest,' 'Vicious,' 'Trivial'

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich today offered a blistering critique of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s handling of oversight on harsh interrogation tactics, in a major escalation of partisan attacks being aimed at Pelosi.

    SNIP

"Speaker Pelosi's the big loser, because she either comes across as incompetent, or dishonest. Those are the only two defenses,” Gingrich said. “The fact is she either didn't do her job, or she did do her job and she's now afraid to tell the truth.”

Given Pelosi's direct accusation that CIA officials committed felonies in this matter, I see no alternative but for the FBI to investigate the allegations.

I heard today that she is now saying the "Bush administration" officials were the ones who lied to her. However, the facts are that career professionals at the CIA, not Bush appointees, are the ones who briefed her.

She is digging herself a very deep hole, from which she may have no other options but to resign in embarrassment over this issue.

    peace to you:praying:

==I certainly hope she does resign. That would be at least one good piece of news out of DC this year. :praying:

I heard this story on the radio tonight while driving home. And it ended by saying, Obama is not saying a word.

It seems Pelosi is left high and dry.

That is exactly the problem - the tail wags the dog. The CIA is now running the government.

What would you expect Obama to say? He was not there when Pelosi was briefed so he can't confirm or deny who is telling the truth. I hear the CIA took notes at the meeting and find it odd Pelosi wants them declassified while the CIA refuses to declassify them.

I guess it's the same as the WH and Cheney. He wants documents declassified but the WH refuses.

Perhaps obama is clever. I have heard that Hoyer, in line to become Speaker, and Rhom Emanuel are buddies. Nothing like having a buddy as speaker when you are trying to convert from free enterprise to Fascism.

Obama needs to defend the CIA and denounce the accusation.

This whole "debate" could end up biting the GOP and Bush very hard. If it becomes messy enough that a Truth Commission is appointed they much more will be revealed and I really do not think either the GOP nor Bush, nor Chaney really want that.

Time will tell. This IMHO is just one more aspect of the getting stuck to the tar baby of Iraq. Even before we invaded Iraq I was condemned by some for saying Iraq was a tar baby that we'd best not stick our fist into. That was in a Christian chat room I used to visit often.

As well you should be condemned.

What is your attraction to racist terms anyway?

Are you familiar with Joel Chandler Harris' story of Br'er Rabbit and the Tar Baby? This is not a racist story ... well I guess in our over sensitive society anything can be called racist, sexist, etc.
There is a great truth in this story and one that has been very graphically shown with our tragic sticking our fist into Iraq. It has cost us the life of thousands of our young men and women, it has cost many thousands more any quality of life from horrific wounds, and left Afghanistan hanging in the wind and we are now playing catch-up there.

Iraq has simply been a disaster. Apparently politicians we did not learn from Vietnam ... and I blame politicians, [note politicians ... both parties] not the military for that disaster, and they led us into the Iraq disaster.

I suspect the democrats have more to lose than the Republicans. Folks have given the democrats a free ride for their roll in Iraq and GTMO. All the blame has been placed on Bush and Cheney. However, a Truth Commission may well bare all, including the dems role in Iraq and GTMO as well as Clinton's practice of the rendition of terror suspects during his tenure.

It would be interesting to see where the chips fall. I expect there is enough blame to go around that neithe party really wants the "facts" to be published.

I doubt the truth commission would involve the Clinton administration ... else how far back do we go with presidents who are still alive?

    Time will tell.

They would have no choice but to involve the Clinton administration, that is, if the Truth Commission were really about truth.

No, I think the libbies are the correct ones regarding Iraq. We invaded the country saying they had WMD then began water boarding and torturing captured terrorist trying to connect Iraq to the war on terror. Not much you can get wrong in that story...

Why, in your opinion, should they include the Clinton administration. What is the connection between Clinton and water boarding and "harsh interrogation tactics"? I am not at all sure how the Clinton admin. is connected with the OP which reads:
