Military missions

    A good friend of mine is a chaplain and told me that he wished he had done that years ago. He tells me that it is non-stop ministry.

    There are some great chaplains in the military (and likewise some that ...) but the link is an independent Baptist mission that starts churches overseas near military bases. The pastors - missionary's come from the States to minister. For the most part these pastors have no official connection with the US Government / military. Though nationals are invited to attend - and some do, most of the members are US military members with there families.
    The Southern Baptist Convention works thu the International Baptist Convention in Europe. Most of their churches were started by military bases, but many now are composed of non US personnel.

    There was another group that had missionaries just for service members that helped me out while I was stationed in the UK. They set up a hospitality house serving home cooked meals, Bible study. Some worship and praise. They also worked with and through the on base chaplan. The orginization is called Overseas Christian Serviceman's Center or OCSC. I met the Millers and they left shortly after starting there. The "house" (as we used to call it) was then staffed by the Myers. Good memories there.

    Looks like you're right! I looked at the History and saw Jesse Miller. Well, it was a good ministry and help me through some tough times while in the service.
