This isn't a Baptist topic, but I didn't know where else to put it. I don't usually remember my dreams, but this was really unusual. I had this dream just before getting up today.

I was in a home (don't know whose). I opened a door and saw a large body of water that came up to the door. Swimming underwater was a bird-like creature with wings that was looking for food. Finding none it came up gasping for air. It saw me and came over to me and begged for food. It's body had changed into a large, unusual-looking fish with a large mouth to which it pointed with its right hand. Yes, it had hands and arms. I sensed that it could understand me and said that I didn't have any food for it. Just then I was paged over the intercom and left.

I went to the desk of the man who had called me (don't know who he was), and then the scene changed. We were standing near an ocean on a slight hill. Looking down the hill to our left, we saw a strange creature that looked a lot like (but slightly different from) a horse. It's head was like a horse's head but slightly different--just as it's body was. Its back legs were higher than the front legs, and it had a long, flowing tail. It was very beautiful and alluring, and yet I sensed an evil emanating from it. It could speak intelligently and drew a crowd--all of which seemed in a trance as if mesmerized by it's words.

To our right and walking along the water was a tall and slender man with long, straight hair below his shoulders and a beard. He was singing, "Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him; how I've proved Him o'er and o'er. Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus, oh for grace to trust Him more."

The interesting thing is that the man's voice sounded a lot like mine. However, the people weren't in a trance but were joyful and happy, and some were dancing. That's when I awoke. Any thoughts?

I would try to eat less pizza before going to bed! Actually, I have had dreams like that (not quite as vivid). Usually they have happened when I was really contemplating on spiritual things, right after teaching our youth group, or preaching in the main service or something like that. I don't know if it is because I am already in this particular state of mind or if it is something unrelated. Just my two cents!

I make no claim to being an oneirocritic (good wor eh? - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/oneirocritic) but the fact that you heard that gospel hymn in your dream sounds very nice. Whenever I have dreams like that I feel wonderful knowing the Saviour.

    Bless God

Isn't it sad that Baptists today have a hard time believing we can still interpret dreams and visions? Just a thought...I'm not being critical I think this is a wholly Baptist topic.

Dancing...joyfulness...this must mean they were in sin...

Lest Baptists have others believe they are either joyful when singing or dancing

    Ok...
The home represents the world. As a Christian, you are a stranger in a strange house.
The sea represents endless opportunity for evangelism.
The creature represents lost souls searching for spiritual life. It finds none in the world and comes to you. The gasping for air represents dying.
Jesus said Christians would be fishers of men. And so, you have a fish, with traits of a man.
You have no food to save it's life. Most likely, this means you have rejected the doctrines of Grace and lean toward Arminianism....
God is calling you, but you didn't recognize Him when you saw Him. Again, probably has something to do with the doctrines of Grace.:wavey:
The fact the man remains with you (you said "we"), it is God that is with you.
    Satan, anti-Christ, man of perdition.....
This is you, praising God (which is good) but not noticing those around you that are being decieved by Satan.:tear:
And so, they all go to hell in their sins, while you sing happily in your church.

    or..... what alshleysdad said.

    peace to you:praying:

    Jon-Mark...

God does in fact give us dreams sometimes. On the very real possibility that this one did come from God, I would say to keep the memory of this dream close to your heart and ask God to grant you understanding, if it be His will to do so.

    God bless.

First off .. I have no idea what any of that could mean. I second the "don't eat pizza before" bed thing.

    Secondly ..

Does the Bible touch on the subject of dreams at all?

    COCOJax...

Dreams are used at times for revelation or guidance. In the Old testament and the new.

Here is just one example from the new testament...

    Acts 16: 6-10...

There are others of course. Praise God for His many ways of revealing His will to us.

Having said that, one should be very careful about going off on a tangent if you arent very VERY sure that the dream came from God.

I personally have never had a dream where I was so sure it was from God that I acted on it. But I have known people who have, and wonderful miraculous things transpired as a result.

I'm not being critical either when I say that God has given us something that is far more reliable than dreams to relay His will to us-----its called the Holy Scripture

See--------when I dream a dream--------it may or may not be given from God--------so therefore I cannot be absolutely, totally and 100% sure if its interpretation-----I may be right or I may be wrong concerning the dream

But when I open the word from the Word------when I open Holy Scripture and begin reading--------I am assured that I am reading the absolute, total realiable, always inspired, always infallable word from God---I can say-------"This is what God says----no doubt about it!!!!"

To say we can dream a dream and wonder if its from God---------we don't have to wonder if Scripture is from God----we can know beyond doubt and speculation

So-----which is more reliable??????? Your dream------after Pizza???

    Or

opening the Scripture and letting it speak to us???

Its a Baptist thing alright-------but its also a God thing!!!!

Don't rely on dreams or their interpretations, that is what the Bible calls "soothsaying" and God condemns it as an abomination.

We have dreams for multiple reasons and the mind has the power to join together all sorts of ideas and things suggested to it by things we hear and see, that is why it MUST be stayed upon God and His word. Other wise our dreams could lead us astray. Just look at what MLK's "dream" has done for society!

No, I am not against any race. People are born as God allows. We are to be children of truth and peacemakers, not agitators disallowing others to make peace with us.

Your statement begs too many questions. And your qualifier at the end is not really one. Wow. Just... Wow.

    OK, start asking.

Doesn't God warn us against things that cause confusion concerning His divine will?

So, by your statement, it seems to indicate, that the civil rights movement was a bad thing. Not just that it was a bad period but the overall net effect of that movement was bad. Is this fair with regard to your belief?

Why are some of you assuming that something I ate caused the dream? I had no pizza or anything else spicy. I'm on a very strict diet due to diabetes and other health problems.

Canadyjd had a very good interpretation. How accurate it is only God knows.

Here is my interpretation (or hopefully God's). There's no claim that it is even from God.

Acts 2:17 says, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour of my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams." Is this dream from God? I have no idea.

I see the bird-like creature as my old self searching in an empty sea for and not finding the food I needed. I was left starving and nearly dying.

I see the fish-like creature as the "new creature" that I have become, now hungry for the word and not finding the food from others that I need because many "Christians" and churches are not properly feeding their flock. In too many churches we are only getting the "milk of the word" and not the "meat of the word." Too many churches don't have the food that the lost or the saved need.

I see the "man without a face" also as my old man who is still with me and wants to rule over me but is now just a blur in my memory as I grow in grace.

I see the beautiful horse-like creature not as Satan but as sin. The world is drawn to it and are mesmerized by it. They can't turn away and don't know they are doomed.

I see my being drawn to it as my still being tempted by sin but recognizing it as evil and rejecting it.

I see the singing man as myself, singing of my wonderful Lord. The reason I look like Jesus is because of my desire that when others look at me they see Jesus and not me. The throng of people around me are either those who are saved and want to know the One of Whom I sing, or they are those who are saved and rejoicing with me.

Any claim to accuracy is purely fictional.

There are scriptures that tell of dreams being given by God and interpreted by certain men (Joseph for example). I don't claim to be able to interpret dreams since all interpretations come from God and not from man.

I believe Christianity should have done a better job than a civil rights movement ever could.

Are you saying that it hasn't? Are you suggesting we should be more inclined to establish civil rights abroad or Christianity?

And hasn't the civil rights movement rather established a more angry racism towards caucasions from the blacks? hasn't it also invited persistent attacks against white people on demand as being racists?

And now you're blessed to see my heart. I never knew anyone could do that other than the Lord?

You seem to be not very fair and observent when you prematurely judge some one. I am sure mattew 7 will have its due course in your life, Jesus did promise what you measure out will be measured unto you again.

So when I told that lady speaking in tongues that she was confessing her adulterous affair with a deacon in another church I was right?
