Okay I have a question about doctrines according to different denominations/ The reason I ask is I was asked in class about the difference in Baptists and Church of Christ and all I could think of was our views on salvation and speaking in tounges. So what I am asking is if there is anywhere that has a list of the different doctrines of different denominations and different baptists.

Church of Christ does not speak in tongues, as far as I know.

One big difference is that Ch of Christ believes water baptism is a part of salvation (sort of like a step 2 after faith or a continuation of it).

Also, generally speaking, the Ch of Christ will not fellowship with anyone other denomination; they believe to be saved you must be baptized by them their way.

I'd say thats borderline cult language what they believe.

The best reference work is the Handbook of Denominations by Frank Mead, Samuel S. Hill and Craig D. Atwood. Abingdon Press. 430 pages.

You can by a copy on Amazon for less than $20.00.

Now it definitely shouldn't be example of the whole, but the one and only COC that I attended once as a child definitely "thought" they were speaking in tongues. Scared me half to death as a young child.

...then there's your CoC that has NO instruments.

We had two Church of Christs in my hometown. I was raised in the one that did have the instruments.

IMO, the Church of Christ is scared of the Holy Spirit. I never was taught about how the Holy Spirit draws people in and how He convicts.

Thank God I the lady who cut my hair was a Baptist and the old man at the end of my street was a Baptist. The old man tried his best to set me right and the lady who cut my hair all those years once laid it on the line like this:

You do not have to be baptized to be saved, young man. The thief on the cross next to Christ was not baptized yet Christ told him that they would be in paradise together.

She'd flip out if she saw that I was a deacon in a baptist church 20 years later!

So is it important to talk to people and share biblical truth? YOU BET!

Church of Christ is the old Campbellites. They typically do not believe in instrumental music. They also believe you must be baptized to be saved.

Bro. Stinnet Ballew has a book he wrote on Baptist Distinctives which would cover most any question. I haven't read the booklet, but knowing the caliber of the man of God he is i wouldn't begin to question what he writes.

Try doing a google search on "Harvest Time Radio Broadcast" I think.
