How soon people forget - It wasn't Bush, it was Clinton who got us into Iraq. Fair enough? I'm sick of the misinformation that it was GW Bush! :)

    http://www.cnn.com/US/9812/16/clinton.iraq.speech/

I will post more information about this later, including the influence of the Iraqi National Congress and Chalabi on our sitting Presidents and Congress. I have posted this information before, but some people on the BB either have forgotten the truth of why we were involved in Iraq, never researched the history of it, or are propagandized by the extreme left web sites like Huffington. I'm sick of hearing the same old blame game on GW Bush. Let's research the truth about Iraq which goes back before GW Bush, shall we? I was always sad that our leaders from both parties fell for the Iraqi shell game. There is enough blame to go around on all sides, it's not just GW Bush.

Yes, Clinton did start attacks, but it was Bush that got us into a full-fledged unnecessary war. After all, it was the Saudis and those in Afghanistan who attacked us.

Yes, this is true, but Congress had to appropriate the funds necessary for the full-fledged war. How many Democrats in Congress voted against the initial funding for the Iraq war?

I'm not defending the members in Congress, republican or democrat, that voted for the war in Iraq.

Actually, it was GHWBush, Rummy, Cheney, Powell, et. al. who started our involvement in that mess. How quickly they forget indeed.

You are correct, the initial battles were during GHW Bush's term as president following the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq. There was widespread, worldwide backing of that invasion. Clinton kept pressure, rightly or wongly, on Iraq. Then under the new Bush admin. that came to power in Jan. 2001 was the second invastion using ground troops of Iraq ... and this was without UN backing or wide support from countries of the world. And we know now that the reasons that were used to justify that invasion were false. GW Bush may have inherited a problem from Clinton ... who had inherited it from GHW Bush ... but GW, IMHO, took the wrong course and created a disaster for the US and for many innocent Iraqi's.

And many not so innocent Iraqi's. In fact, I don't trust them to this day, how about that? I think they are ungrateful for freeing them from a brutal dictator and his sons, I think they are ungrateful for all the dollars and blood and lives we have poured into their country. Usually countries who are freed from dictators appreciate their liberators. At least that is the way it has been. Don't get me wrong. I think the Iraq war was a waste and wrong on so many levels. For the USA. But I understand the strategy of drawing jihadists to Iraq as a magnet using our troops as the bait and thus keeping them over there in that God-forsaken country so we don't have to worry about IEDs while we drive to the grocery store over here. Yet.

And while it was a nice thing that we freed the Iraqi citizens from Saddam's human meat grinders, is it un-Christian for me to say, they should have dealt with it themselves instead of using US blood and treasure for their freedom? Which is more un-Christian, to not care about innocent Iraqi lives lost during the Iraq war and more about our troops losing life and limb or to not care about Iraqi's in Saddam's meat grinders? Huh, CTB, you be the judge, okay? Do you agree that we should have let the human meat grinders continue, no matter who was President? Because, in the end, after the troops are pulled out of Iraq, they will end up in a civil war, Shia versus Sunni, with all their bloody religion. And there will be meat grinders again and mass graves again. So maybe we staved that off for awhile, ya reckon?

And ya'll forget how we got snookered into this whole charade, the constant harping and lobbying by Chalabi, the Iraqi National Congress, a con job. All of our great leaders from both parties fell for it.
