"U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) has proposed revoking earlier rulings that assisted opening knives are not switchblades. The proposed new rule would not only outlaw assisted opening knives, its broad definition of a switchblade would also include one-handed opening knives and could be easily interpreted to cover most other pocket knives, even simple old-fashioned slip-joints."

It sounds like they want us to be defenseless. I always carry a minimum of three pocket knives on me most of the time. I have a Leatherman that I carry on my waist & one knife in my front two pockets. The knife's blade in my right front pocket can pop out easily. The other is just decorative. I mostly use them as tools. I would never think of pulling them out in a fight unless my life was in serious danger & me using it would garauntee or increase my chance of survival.

Of course one has to use wisdom before pulling a knife out. The old saying goes, "Never bring a knife to a gun fight."

Wouldn't it have been great if box cutters had been outlawed before 9/11?

You can't take a pocketknife on a plane or into a court house today. Big deal. No weapons allowed.

What an asinine statement. This is the same ridiculous liberals use when trying to outlaw guns. Those who commit crimes are criminals. Criminals do not obey the law. How does restricting the rights of the honest citizen help stop criminal acts?:tonofbricks:

I somehow don't think that making box cutters illegal would have prevented the terrorists from taking over the plane.

If anyone is dumb enough to pull a box cutter out (or any sharp object) the truth is they have to get very close to use it effectively. That's why I had a personal policy when I worked in the convenience stores, anyone attempting to rob the place with anything less than a gun will get no money from me. I had other improvised weapons laying around the store for various situations. My 6 D-Cell mag light was my most favorite improvised weapon. The counter's positioning was also perfect. A person would have lean way over the counter to get to the register. This would cause them to be off balance, which would (in theory) allow me to hold the suspect down on the counter with one hand & pummel with the other.

Do you think anybody should be able to carry any kind of weapon on board an aircraft?

I do. Perhaps you like having hundreds, perhaps thousands of people at the mercy of a madman, but I would rather have them able to defend themselves.

    Amen Bro. Curtis.

If there had been armed citizens on board these planes, the chances, INHO, are good that 9/11 would not have occurred.
