Anyone know why the KJV has 2 Cor. 5:7 in parentheses?

It appears to a parenthetical expression. While I don't pretend to be an expert, I'm pretty sure they are not indicative of something that appears in some texts but not in others.

Just appears to be a parenthetical statement. An aside if you will, by Paul, as he is writing.

There is nothing textually exciting about this phrase, just fits into the flow as a brief side point. :)

The reason I ask is because the parentheses are found in few other English translations.

It an interpretter's guess, but I think it's a good one. It seems parenthetical.

Lest we forget the text would have looked a little like this: (only in Greek!)

    NowhethathathwroughtusfortheselfsamethingisGodwhoalsohath
    givenuntoustheearnestoftheSpiritThereforewearealwaysconfiden
    tknowingthatwhilstweareathomeinthebodyweareabsentfromtheLo

    stallappearbeforethejudgmentseatofChristthateveryonemayreceivet
    hethingsdoneinhisbodyaccordingtothathehathdonewhetheritbegood
    orbad

    well that didn't work...

Actually, it's not too bad.

The NT autographs would have been all in "upper-case" letters, however.

yeah, I tried but the text kept getting stripped when I brought it over. It would probably have looked like this:

    NOWETHATHATHWROUGHTUSFORTHESELFSAMETHINGISGODWHOALSOHATH
    GIVENUNTOUSTHEEARNESTOFTHESPIRITTHEREFOREWEAREALWAYSCONFIDENT

    KNOWINGTHATWHILSTWEAREATHOMEINTHEBODYWEAREABSENTFROMTHELO
    RDFORWEWALKBYFAITHNOTBYSIGHTWEARECONFIDENTISAYANDWILLINGRATH
    ERTOBEABSENTFROMTHEBODYANDTOBEPRESENTWITHTHELORDWHEREFOREWE
    LABOURTHATWHETHERPRESENTORABSENTWEMAYBEACCEPTEDOFHIMFORWEMU
    STALLAPPEARBFORETHEJUDGMENTSEATOFCHRISTTHATEVERYONEMAYRECEIVET
    THETHINGDONEINHISBODYACCORDINGTOTHATHEHATHDONEWHETHERITBEGOOD
    ORBAD

finally, I had to retype it. Well there is it, only the real text is in greek. Makes it harder and a half. Its an interpretative decision. :)
