Which company produces the very best ice cream? Assuming money not being issue, what ice cream would you buy?

    I like Breyers.

What I don't like is how they have massively downsized their product. Used to their ice cream was sold in a half gallon container. Then it shrunk to 1.75 quarts. Now they sell it in a 1.5 quart size. The problem with this is the price didn't shrink with the product.

My favorite flavors are Mint Chocolate Chip, Rocky Road, & Cookies & Cream.

Overall, I like Blue Bell best, but some of Ben and Jerry's are almost heavenly.

I prefer blue bunny, they make the best sugar free, love the double strawberry and butter pecan. BUT, I really don't care much for ice cream anymore, so when I do eat it I usually have fudgecicles, small, not a lot ice cream, and good flavor, and sugar free.
I would second with Edy's sugar free.

I think Edy's is known ad Dreyers here. Also, my favorite, Blue Bell, is not sold in Colorado.

Yep - Edy's and Dryer's are the same company.

We will only buy Edy's, Turkey Hill, Blue Bunny or the slow churned Breyers (although it's still not one of our favorites). We're particular about ice cream.

However, my ABSOLUTE favorite ice cream is Baskin Robbins chocolate chip. I've been known to eat that for dinner. :D

I must concur with my BigBoaamsn bother, especially on their downsizing the product.

But i must correct his errant choices of best flavor. Everyone who's anyone knows it's Butter Pecan!

I've noticed all ice cream brands are downsizing, most grosery store products are, and charging more for them too.

    YES!

I love Mayfield, but can't get it where I live, so we normally go with Breyers (especially if it's on sale). The best is to get whipped and dipped -- great local, family owned place -- at Whip 'N Dip, the best local ice cream shop in South Florida -- www.whipndipicecream.com.

Ice cream bothers my stomach, so I'm the one person so far voting "I do not eat ice cream." Usually, people can't believe it when I say it.

I have it once in a while and when I do, I like Mint Chocolate Chip or Coffee flavor. I like the Haagen Daaz Coffe flavor better than Breyer's.

Most here have never heard of Mayfield Ice Cream and have no idea what they are missing. :D Some of Blue Bell's flavors are really good, too. Some brands are just way too expensive for my tastes so I haven't tried them.

I will freely admit that ice cream is the Texas-sized chink in my diet armor. :(

I have never even tasted Edy's or Mayfield that I recall, or even knew about them. But Blue Bell is a popular brand around here, and expectedly is the most expensive-- I think even at Wal-Mart it is more than $5/half-gallon. But I seldom buy ice cream; and when I do it would be BB, Blue Bunny (the other BB), Breyer's or Dreyer's on sale, or else the cheapest I can find. Oh yes-- Braum's IMO is a good brand also. In fact, if I am planning to make a casserolle, I may swing by Braum's just to get their sharp cheddar cheese, which is often less than store brands and is the best I know of.

Of course, I havent' made any ice cream in years now, and I have had to suppress my urge to buy a new maker, or I might be having ice cream every day! It is goooood stuff!

Mayfield is regional. It is headquartered in Athens, Tennessee, and is only available in the SE.

Next time I'm in New Zealand I'll have to give the boysenberry a try...

We have a regional dairy called Stewart's Shops. They make their own ice cream products. I'm working my way through the lineup. I let you know as soon as I decide. Some of those flavors deserve a second taste...

    or third....

One of their stores is about 150 yards from my front door. It is uphill both ways so I get my exercise by walking down to grab a pint of the Flavor of the Week. I'm on a Black Cherry kick lately.
