Link vs plagiarising

Your question is in error. Proper credit is given when the link to the original article is provided with the quote or comment.

 

as long as they post a link in the same post, then they are in fact saying their info came from that link. Not plagarism unless theres no link and they claim to be the author. Several years ago we were told by the powers that be on the BB that all quotes had to be accompanied by a link to the source in order to avoid pagarism. So anyone who posts a quote and gives the link is in line with BB rules.

 

As popularly defined, plagiarism is when someone presents another person's writing as their own. Copyright infringement is when someone presents another person's work beyond the scope of "fair use" without authorization or license.

I can't imagine how a link to another Web site could be considered plagiarism (or copyright infringement) by the person who posted the link unless they quoted part of the work and went beyond the scope of "fair use" and/or presented the work as their own.

If a person has preached for a number of years and read a great number of books, there is bound to be information fixed in your head and often used at times without referencing it. It is not intentional plagiarizing, but it happens.

I know I have many ideas in my head which came from somewhere. I haven't a clue of the source, but if it is a relevant quote I have used it.

I don't think this would violate copywrite rules, and I do know that this was not the intention of copywrite rules.
