I have been just reading here for a couple of weeks and I finally saw something that made me want to post.

We have all see the WWJD? emblems and stickers. What would Jesus do? First of all let me state that i believe that Jesus is divine, and has all of the power and authority of God, the father.

I dont think we, as humans are capable of making the decisions and judgements that Jesus did. We are to strive for His example but we will never make it.

Anyway, I saw a bumper sticker yesterday that said "Who would Jesus bomb?" This is obviously a take-off from the WWJD stuff floating around.

I believe that we would be speaking Russian or German if we didnt defend ourselves and our moral/godly standards.

Jesus Himself took a whip and drove the moneychagers out of the temple. I dont see Jesus as a whimp or a passivist. He took physical action when it was needed.

This bumper sticker upset me, and I want to know what you think?

    Am I wrong?

The OT is full of examples of "who Jesus would bomb". I believe God uses peoples and governments to accomplish His will still today.

    My favorite bumper sticker is:
"Support the Right to Arm Bears"

    Anyway...

Today in Adult Sunday school we went over Psalm 15

The last line here caused some discussion.

Who shall dwell on your holy hill? (verse 1)
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right (verse 2)
in whose eyes a vile person is despised (verse 4)

Righteous anger (righteous bombing???) is appropriate at in times of great wickedness.

Would you censor this individual's right of free speech because it offends your religious sensibilities? Do you expect non-Christians to act the same as you or I?

We live in two kingdoms, the kingdom of the world and the kingdom of God. We are in the world but not of the world. The question about bombing another country is a question that belongs to the worldly kingdom. Our nation needs to decide what it must do to survive in an increasingly dangerous world.

As Christians, we don't need weapons of mass destruction. We have already won the battle. But our battle is entirely different.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

We fight for the heart and soul of men not for their land or their oil. Jesus could have called down legions of angels to prevent His accusers from arresting Him, beating Him, and crucifying Him. He chose not to do so.

Jesus' answer to the bumper sticker would of course be NO ONE.

How do you believe the Prince of Peace should be represented? As a god of war?

Well if the Bible said Jesus is ONLY a lamb then I understand the point,BUT not so! He is a Lamb,Lion,King of Kings,Judge of the whole earth,Mighty God,ect. The book of Revelation says he will slay them with the sword of his mouth.

The Kingdom of God is not about vengence. Violence is not a Christian means of resolving anything.

"for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." (Romans 12:19) This is on an individual basis not a Governmental command.....though Government can display long suffering and thus give a Godly example to other nations.

    Question: Who would Jesus bomb?

    Scripture answer #1

    Luke 17: 26,28-30 (NIV)
26 "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.
27 People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
28 "It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
29 But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
30 "It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed

There is coming a day (AKA: Day of the Lord) when Jesus will be bombing some places. Suggest reading the whole Bible, you will find out what kind of folk Jesus Bombs.

    Scripture answer #2
    Revelation 17:11-16
11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

I plan to be in that 'armies of heaven'. In Acts 2 it says that Jesus will come back as he went up - in a cloud. All those white robed people, riding white horses -- it will look like a cloud 2 to 2,000 miles away. And Jesus will lead the bombing run.
    Scripture answer #3

    Revelation 11:18 (NIV):
The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great-- and for destroying those who destroy the earth.

Just between you and me, Jesus will bomb those who destroy the earth (not 'world which represents the world order of governance and humans futile attempts to govern themselves -- but 'earth' the physcial place where we live)

Jedi, bleeding hearts cannot grasp that concept. They actually believe the bumper sticker to be a legitimate representation of the person and character of Jesus.

We can't put Jesus in a box. We can't interpret Jesus through the mindset of the American church, and think we've got it all figured out.

Why not just respect the holy wild? (And I know some are going to have a problem with "holy wild"- only to prove my point)

The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

He didn't teach us to kill. He commanded us to love not only our neighbor but also our enemy.
