Republicans are stupid to argue about this. Let it go. The Jackson lovefest will be over soon.

And the Dems fawning over Jackson are just trying to impress the constituency...you know, the ones that instead of holding down a job, are dancing in the street with a glove on...

I agree ........Are you serious? I saw some of his funeral on TV and people referred to Jackson being in Heaven now. Of course they have no theology to back that presumption, but hey why mess up the moment right?

Yes, by all means, let's let a morally degenerate, public crotch grabbing, gyrating, accused pedophile, plastic surgical cariciature be elevated as a national symbol. Next, they will be building a gold statue of him for the masses to worship. Color me disgusted. "Lowlife" says it best.

All I can think of is Romans Chapter 1 - worshipping the creature rather than the creator who gave him his musical talent. Our country is at the lowest moral point in the history of this nation and the news coverage of his passing proves it. Despicable.

This the absolute arrogance of congress.

By honoring this nearly certain pedophile, they are implying that Americans honor him. It is more proof that congress either has no idea what the majority wants or they don't care. The other possibility is that they want to prove that "they" have the power to prevail over "them".

P.S. Are you telling me that only "stupid" Republicans care enough to worry about the charactor of the people we honor, While the smart Democrats see past such insignificant things as charactor in integrity?

That this non-event is even mentioned in the halls of Congress is a travesty.

What a collasal waste of time and the people's tax dollars!

Unless he came by the way of the Cross...then he's not there... I'm preaching to the choir now.lol

I can just see him approaching the Pearly Gates wanting to get in...

"Hello, I'm Michael Jackson. You know...the King of Pop?" Jesus replies, "Sorry Michael, I never knew you. By the way, I'm the 'KING of KINGS'!"

And just waiting for this to blow over is not the answer. Keeping silent contributed to Madelyn Murray O'Hare's triumph in getting prayer taken out of schools...

First of all, Madalyn Murray O'Hair's case was not about prayer in school. It was about Bible reading in public schools. The case re: prayer was Abington School District v. Schempp.

Secondly, both decisions were the right ones. The public schools are there to serve all children, including Jews, Buddhists, Agnostics, Atheists, Christians, and any other belief. Would you like a Muslim teacher leading your child in prayer to Allah in their public school? Didn't think so. All parents pay taxes to support the public schools. If you want prayer in school, try a private Christian school.

The school prayer case involved whether a governmental organization could write a prayer and force everyone to say that prayer and that prayer only. The Supreme Court decision declaring this unconstitutional was a correct decision. Of course politicians, seeing an easy vote getting issue, immediately muddied the waters screaming that all prayer was banned from public schools. That was not the case at that time. If the politicians had left the issue alone that would probably be exactly where we stood today. However with their confusing speeches and rhetoric more and more cases were brought before the courts by people on both sides of the issue and now we have the confusing mess we are not living with.
