Service Oath

There is no legal obligation as in can be tried in a court martial for failing to do so, once the time of service is fulfilled.

 

IMO, the legal obligation to fulfill what a person who joins the military take an oath to do ends with the completion of his/her military service.

As a retired military person, I'd venture to say that most vets would probably still be willing to protect and defend the constitution as long as they are able.

 

Amen to that!

Now if we could just convince more people that defending republicans and/or democrats, the government, UN mandates, and making the whole world "safe for democracy" is not the same as defending the constitution we'd be getting somewhere.

 

More to the point, all US citizens are expected to protect our Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic, so much so, that any person who is a naturalized citizen takes an oath of citizenship in which they swear (or affirm) allegience to the Constitution and defense of the Constitution against enemies "foreign and domestic".

We should feel privileged that our armed services personnel, past and present, willingly do that for us.

 

When I took the oath, it was in regards to my official service as a member of our military. However, as an American citizen, I will defend her in any way I can in perpetuity.

 

Several hundred years ago there was a moral obligation for the colonists to protect the Christian British Empire, yes?

Bravo, bravo!!!! Get rid of every one of the thieves, from both parties. Defending the Constitution has nothing to do with the daily nonsense in Congress and the White House.

I agree with the above, I believe any vet would protect and defend the Constitution that is not a politician.

 

Obama won't keep his oath while in office.

Why should soldiers keep it ?

 

Because soldiers have honor, integrity, and a sense of duty.

Really, so tell us how you would know that. My guess is that you never served a day in your life.

 

Opinions are one thing, but a total lack of understanding of government, politics, and history is quite another. People are like you are the scourge of this country for two reasons. One, their liberal and morally dengenerate policies embraced by the Democrats, and two, you actually think through your deluded mind that there is a difference between Democrats and Republicans, as evidenced by your signature.

You are so star struck by the politicians and the media, you have no idea what the Constitution says or means, or what it means to be governed by it, nor do you realize the very politicians that you consider heroes, steal money from right under your nose everyday.

The only reason the Republicans are slightly better than you is they think they are more like the Constitution, without realizing they have become Democrats.

Seems I remember a lot of disparaging things said about Senator Kerry. He served in the military, yet look at the criticism leveled toward him in 2004.
