Glen Beck is an entertainer and not to be taken seriously. Best way to keep the ratings up is to make outlandish comments that catch people's attention.

What difference does it make if you call him an entertainer or a journalist?

    Was he right or not?

Are entertainers always wrong and journalists always right?

Both unsubstantiated statements seem about as true

Tune Glen Beck in right away he is going to explain himself on the subject next - just said so.

No he is not right or even close to being right. It was a stupid comment to make. Journalists are under some pressure to have something to back their comments. Entertainers like Beck are under no such pressure. I heard Bill O'Reilly talking about this one evening and he admitted that is why he is not and will not ever be a journalist. I thought it a most interesting moment of honesty on Bill's part.

So is Al Franklin an entrainer, and not to be taken seriously?

Now, let me ask a very simple question -
If I were to say "Sam Smith is a typical Black man because he is athletic" - Would that be a racist statement?

One one of two answers will be accepted - YES or NO

    Salty

PS - O'Riley and Beck are not journalist - they are commentators - big difference - yes, Beck does put his "entertainer hat" from time to time.

Whether you like him or hate him he has to be taken somewhat seriously now. Why? Because as a senator he has some real power.

In our hyper sensitive society many, probably most people would say yes it is a racist statement. This is not a yes or no question.

Reminds me of the yes or no question, "Have you stopped beating your wife? Yes or No?

    Boy are you naive.

Do you remember Dan Rather and his fake documents?

The "mainstream media" is so in the tank for Obama that they don't even give a thought to pretense for truth any more.

"Beck is wrong .... playing to his audience."

Is that based on what you heard him say on the program this morning? If so where is he wrong?

I think Glen Beck will say anything if it causes his ratings to go up. Mr. "cry one que" is not to be taken seriously in my opinion.

Now, is President Obama a racist? I don't think so. After all, he has white friends and his own mother was white. I think President Obama is a liberal who has bought into the idea that the poor should be given advantages over the middle and upper classes.

I voted, "The evidence is too flimsy to say he is"

Glen Beck is one of these people who makes his money off making people scared and/or angry. Just like Sean Hannity, Keith Olbermann, and Bill O'Reilly. Glen Beck will say anything to get ratings. If that means scaring poor old ladies by telling them that President Obama wants to have them euthanized, as some Republicans are doing, or making conservatives afraid by comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler (I have heard him do that in one breath then deny he did it in the next). If calling the President a racist gets him ratings by attracting the fringe right or getting an angry rise out of Obama supporters he is more than willing to do it.

I am just amazed that so many conservatives have fallen for these charlatans. Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, and Sarah Palin are fakes (imo). They say what they say, they do what they do, just to make people angry. If people stop falling for their tricks, these people go out of business.

The lying liar of all liars lied his way to the presidency and now we have people like MP, Martin, crabby, and alatide or whatever his moniker will be the next time, defending this lying liar of all liars, a close cousin to the father of lies. That is Obama for those who don't recognize him.

==I think if you review my posts you will see that I have not defended President Obama. In this very thread I stated that Obama, "is a liberal who has bought into the idea that the poor should be given advantages over the middle and upper classes". That, in case you are not aware of it, is not a complement. I did not vote for Obama and I will not vote for Obama. And I do not support the vast majority of his policies. In my book the only difference between Obama and Bush is I made the mistake of voting for Bush twice.

I have refuted the "birth certificate conspiracy folks" not to defend Obama but to defend what is real (ie..truth). I think that was made clear at the time. Nothing bugs me more than watching level heading conservatives chase rabbits through the woods and thus missing the real problems. I have also said that Christians should respect President Obama. Why? Because that is what Scripture teaches. We can disagree strongly with the President and distrust him, but we are to be respectful at the same time.

I have also made my thoughts about the vast majority politicians very clear on these boards. Maybe you have not read those posts? You have called Obama a liar and, because he is a politician, that is a fair accusation. In my book, if a politician is talking they are probably lying. I am bipartisan in my dislike/distrust of modern politicians. Maybe that is why hardcore Republicans (and Democrats) can't find much agreement with me. I am also not a big fan of snake oil salesmen like Glen Beck, Keith Olbermann, etc.

Since you claim to be concerned about the truth I must ask you to refrain from spreading false information about me.

    Thanks.

Obama is a racist. I don't need Glenn Beck to tell me that. He probably learned it from his pastor, Rev. Hatewhitey Wright.

Just as you learned sitting under your pastor, Rev. Hateblackie, given the post you made about him. Two sides of the same coin, it would appear.

Too bad people cannot get off the race junk. We are all just people. Let go of your hate, Curtis. You will feel so much better.

Back on topic. Beck lives off ratings. He has flipflopped like a fish on the dock, and will say anything to build an audience.
