"The flu season is upon us. Which type will we worry about this year, and what kind of shots will we be told to take? Remember the swine flu scare of 1976? That was the year the U.S. government told us all that swine flu could turn out to be a killer that could spread across the nation, and Washington decided that every man, woman and child in the nation should get a shot to prevent a nation-wide outbreak, a pandemic." (Mike Wallace, CBS, 60 Minutes, November 4, 1979)
"The federal officials and industry representatives had assembled to discuss a disturbing new study that raised alarming questions about the safety of a host of common childhood vaccines administered to infants and young children. According to a CDC epidemiologist named Tom Verstraeten, who had analyzed the agency's massive database containing the medical records of 100,000 children, a mercury-based preservative in the vaccines -- thimerosal -- appeared to be responsible for a dramatic increase in autism and a host of other neurological disorders among children....

"It's hard to calculate the damage to our country -- and to the international efforts to eradicate epidemic diseases -- if Third World nations come to believe that America's most heralded foreign-aid initiative is poisoning their children. It's not difficult to predict how this scenario will be interpreted by America's enemies abroad." (Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Vaccinations: Deadly Immunity, June 2005)

"Vaccines are supposed to be making us healthier; however, in twenty-five years of nursing I have never seen so many damaged, sick kids. Something very, very wrong is happening to our children."( Patti White, School nurse, statement to the House Government Reform Committee, 1999, quoted in Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Vaccinations: Deadly Immunity, June 2005)

"On the basis of ... expert assessments of the evidence, the scientific criteria for an influenza pandemic have been met. I have therefore decided to raise the level of influenza pandemic alert from Phase 5 to Phase 6. The world is now at the start of the 2009 influenza pandemic. ... Margaret Chan, Director-General, World Health Organization (WHO), Press Briefing 11 June 2009)

"As many as 2 billion people could become infected over the next two years — nearly one-third of the world population." (World Health Organization as reported by the Western media, July 2009)

"Swine flu could strike up to 40 percent of Americans over the next two years and as many as several hundred thousand could die if a vaccine campaign and other measures aren't successful." (Official Statement of the US Administration, Associated Press, 24 July 2009).
"The U.S. expects to have 160 million doses of swine flu vaccine available sometime in October", (Associated Press, 23 July 2009)

"Vaccine makers could produce 4.9 billion pandemic flu shots per year in the best-case scenario", Margaret Chan, Director-General, World Health Organization (WHO), quoted by Reuters, 21 July 2009)

Wealthier countries such as the U.S. and Britain will pay just under $10 per dose [of the H1N1 flu vaccine]. ... Developing countries will pay a lower price." [circa $400 billion for Big Pharma] (Business Week, July 2009)

    < snip>

Influenza is a common disease. Unless there is a thorough lab examination, the identity if the virus cannot be established.

There are numerous cases of seasonal influenza across America, on an annual basis. "According to the Canadian Medical Association Journal, the flu kills up to 2,500 Canadians and about 36,000 Americans annually. Worldwide, the number of deaths attributed to the flu each year is between 250,000 and 500,000" (Thomas Walkom, The Toronto Star, May 1, 2009).

What the CDCP and the WHO are doing is routinely us re-categorizing a large number of cases of common influenza as H1N1 swine flu.
"The increasing number of cases in many countries with sustained community transmission is making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for countries to try and confirm them through laboratory testing. Moreover, the counting of individual cases is now no longer essential in such countries for monitoring either the level or nature of the risk posed by the pandemic virus or to guide implementation of the most appropriate response measures. (WHO, Briefing note, 2009)
The WHO admits that at a country level laboratory testing is often absent, while emphasising that lab confirmation it is not required for data collection, with a view to ascertaining the spread of the disease:
A strategy that concentrates on the detection, laboratory confirmation and investigation of all cases, including those with mild illness, is extremely resource-intensive. In some countries, this strategy is absorbing most national laboratory and response capacity, leaving little capacity for the monitoring and investigation of severe cases and other exceptional events. ... For all of these reasons, WHO will no longer issue the global tables showing the numbers of confirmed cases for all countries. However, as part of continued efforts to document the global spread of the H1N1 pandemic, regular updates will be provided describing the situation in the newly affected countries. WHO will continue to request that these countries report the first confirmed cases and, as far as feasible, provide weekly aggregated case numbers and descriptive epidemiology of the early cases. (Ibid)
At a June 2009 WHO press conference, the issue of lab testing was raised:
Marion Falco, CNN Atlanta: My question may be a little basic but if you are not, and so forgive me for that, if you are not requiring testing in the countries that already have well established numbers of cases, then how are you distinguishing between seasonal flu and this particular flu. I mean how are you going to separate the numbers?

Dr Fukuda, WHO, Geneva: It is not that we are recommending not doing any testing at all. In fact when the guidance comes out, what it will suggest is what countries are to do is tailor down their testing so that they are not trying to test everybody but certainly keeping up testing of some people for exactly the kinds of reasons that you bring up. When people get sick with an influenza-like illness it will be important for us to know whether is it caused by the pandemic virus or whether is caused by seasonal viruses. What we are indicating is that if you ratchet down the level of testing we will still be able to figure that out and so we do not need to test everybody for that, but we will continue to recommend some level of testing – at a lower level of people who continue to get sick. See Transcript of WHO Virtual Press Conference, Dr Keiji Fukuda, Assistant Director-General for Health Security and Environment, WHO, Geneva, July 2009, emphasis added).
"Figure that out"? What the foregoing statements by the WHO suggest is that:
    1) the WHO is not collecting data on the spread of H1N1 based on systematic lab confirmation.

    2) the WHO in fact discourages national health officials to conduct detection and laboratory confirmation, while also pressuring the countries' public health authorities to duly deliver to the WHO on a weekly basis the data on H1N1 cases.

    3) The WHO in its reporting only refers to "confirmed cases" It does not distinguish between confirmed and non-confirmed case. It would appear that the "non-confirmed" cases are categorized as confirmed cases and the numbers are then used by the WHO to prove that the disease is spreading. (See WHO tables: http://www.who.int/csr/don/2009_07_06/en/index.html)
The swine flu has the same symptoms as seasonal influenza: fever, cough and sore throat. What is happening is that the widespread incidence of the common flu is being used to generate the reports delivered to the WHO pertaining to the H1N1 swine flu. Nonetheless, in the tabulated release of country level data, the WHO uses the term: "number of laboratory-confirmed cases", while also admitting that the cases are, in many cases, not confirmed.

    Full Article

So, the WHO doesn't really know how many cases of swine flu there is and doesn't really want to find out but it wants you to think they know so you can think you know so you'll be sure to go and get your flu shot. 400 billion dollars is nothing to "sneeze" at!

If an Obama czar comes knocking on our door to give me a shot (I know full well they don't have enough flu vaccine to go around), I won't answer the door. It won't be a flu shot in that syringe, but my "end of life counseling" in disguise.

OTOH, our front door has been electronically marked by those pesky ACORN census volunteers when they hand delivered info about the 2010 census, and you can see our entire house and yard from Google Earth, so I suspect they know when we're home and not home, even if we don't answer the door. Maybe I can put up a "BEWARE OF VICIOUS ANIMAL" sign to throw them off. Ya think?

If this is the thinking of the average conservative today in America, then they will never be in power again. Fortunately I believe these extreme viewpoints are in the extreme minority.

I think another condition needs to be written into the health care bill. If someone refuses preventative care they shouldn' t offered medical care if they contract the disease. I'm really getting tired of people who blow the dangers of immunization way out of proportion.

Don't worry, the "preventative care" clauses will be in there
under Obamacare. Neglect to get an annual physical and your prostate checkup and PSA blood work? Oh, and then you end up going after you think you have problems and find out your PSA is extremely elevated and the biopsy report (if they bother to do one now after your negligence) comes back you have a high Gleason score and you probably have prostate cancer. Too bad for you---you neglected your checkups and blood work. YOU didn't eat cucumbers, (healthy food for prostates), but you preferred fast foods in lieu of veggies. Well, that's too bad. Don't worry about it, here's an RX for pain (if it's covered under Obamacare after you neglected all of the above). You'll be checking out soon, or maybe you can borrow some money from relatives to get that surgery, IF you can find a hospital under Obamacare to admit you now or a surgeon who is allowed to operate outside of the "public health option." Don't worry though. The Obama czar will see that you get your "end of life counseling" (yes that is in the House Bill, you should read it). Get your affairs in order. Maybe the Obama czar will make it easier for you by giving you the syringe mentioned above.... or may some nice tasty Kool-Aid instead (it's more cost effective). Cheer up!

How far would you take that line of reasoning?

Should morbidly obese persons be denied health care for heart attacks, strokes, joint degeneration and other medical problems associated with being over weight?

Should alcoholics be denied health care for liver failure, DUI car accidents, etc. ?

Should smokers be denied health care for lung, mouth and throat cancer?

Yeah. Stupid people. Let um die. Only the perfect people deserve health care anyway.

Oh, and all the kids who didn't get the preventative care they should have because their parents didn't take them to the dr., let them die too. :BangHead:

So in a free country we should be forced to take immunizations because some pathetic liberals do not agree with others about the dangers of immunizations?

Well that would be a natural consequence of allowing the government to control health care now wouldn't it?

That and any number of other coersive measures in the name of government health care such as monitoring and controlling diet, lifestyles, exercise, etc.

What about pregnant women whose unborn babies are diagnosed with trisomy 13, trisomy 18, Down syndrome via amniocentesis? Now, women have "elective" abortions but under Obamacare, would it still be "elective" or would it be mandatory?

What about women who have the breast cancer gene? If they have a breast cancer gene, will they be considered to be a certain "liability" under government controlled healthcare? What if they fail to do self examinations, will they be punished? Will prosthetics end up being considered too costly if they have mastectomies and want reconstructive surgery?

What about people who contract a tick-borne disease, say Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever...will they be punished for hiking or going hunting in the woods? Or what if a person refuses some procedure that Obamacare tells them they need to have...will they be cut off from any future care? What about the 80-year-old who already lives in a nursing home and slips and falls - will they be denied surgery because it is not cost effective? Or the younger person who develops Parkinson disease (like Michael J Fox), will that person be denied treatment because it will mean life-long treatment and will not be cost effective?

The list goes on and on. No, maybe the ultimate government control over our individual lives won't happen overnight, but the Obamacare plan is a fast track to the means of ulitmate control from womb to the grave - and the government will decide through their bureaucracy, committees, czars, what medications they will or will not pay for (they just voted on the amendment about that in the House Committee tonight and they did pass it out of Committee tonight BTW and applauded themselves for passing it 31 to 28, I believe it was) and what treatments they will or will not pay for (and when I say "they" I mean us paying the tab without a choice in our care, no matter what lies they are telling people). They want to control us like cattle with a one-size-fits all liberal mentality. It's disgusting.

And Heny Waxman (D-House Chairman of Committee approving this plan) has the audacity to tell us that Congress will be exempt from the Obamacare plan they want to shove down the throats of the very people who pay his salary - us!!

I urge you to call your Representatives and Senators next week when they come back to their home states for this August break. They need to feel the outrage of their constituents.

I agree with your post. The average conservative does think. The liberal Democrats and Republicans should start at some point in time. A good start would be to govern our nation by the Consitution and serve the American people. Do you enjoy expressing your support for people that are stealing from its citizens daily to maintain their self-indulgence and grasp on power?

But, aren't you also getting tired of the people who blow the numbers of infections way out of proportion in order to scare the "global" population into getting vaccinated?

Or are you okay with a mass indoctrination campaign aimed at conducting a mass vaccination campaign?

What I'm getting really tired of is all the fearmongering for $$$ and control.

The mass vaccination order has come from the World Health Organization (WHO) [8]. In early July 2009, a group of vaccination experts concluded that the pandemic is unstoppable, and Marie-Paul Kieny, WHO director on vaccine research said all nations will need access to vaccines, and that a vaccine should be available as early as September.

Critics point out that the ‘vaccination experts’ are dominated by the vaccine makers standing to gain from the enormously lucrative vaccine and antiviral contracts awarded by governments. But the decisive argument against mass vaccinations is that flu shots simply don’t work and are dangerous [9].

    < snip >

There are widely acknowledged reasons why flu vaccines won’t work, as already pointed out with regard to the much touted vaccines against the ‘pandemic bird flu’ that has yet to materialize [10] (How to Stop Bird Flu Instead, SiS 35). The flu virus changes quickly - even without the help of genetic engineering in the laboratory, and especially with the help of the intensive livestock industry - whereas the vaccines target specific strains. Furthermore, flu vaccination does not give permanent protection, and must be repeated annually; the vaccines are difficult to mass-produce, and some strains won’t grow at all under laboratory conditions.
Numerous studies have documented that flu shots give little or no protection against infection and illness, and there is no reason to believe that swine flu vaccines will be different.

A review of 51 separate studies involving more than 294 000 children found that in children aged from two years, nasal spray vaccines made from weakened influenza viruses and injected vaccines made from the killed virus prevented 82 and 59 percent of illnesses. The prevention of 'flu-like illness' caused by other types of viruses was only 33 and 36 percent respectively. In children under the age of two, the efficacy of inactivated vaccine was similar to placebo. It was not possible to analyse the safety of vaccines from the studies due to the lack of information, and lack of standardization on the little information available [11]. A report published in 2008 found flu vaccines in young children made no difference in the number of flu-related doctor and hospital visits [12].

On the other hand, a study of 800 children with asthma found that those receiving a flu vaccine had a significantly increased risk of asthma-related doctor and emergency room visits[13]; the odds ratios were 3.4 and 1.9 respectively. This was confirmed in a report published in 2009, which showed children with asthma who received FluMist had a 3-fold increased risk of hospitalization[14]

Flu vaccines are equally useless for adults, including the elderly, giving little or no protection against infection or illnesses including pneumonia (see [9]).

    SOURCE

Now, you could claim as another did in another thread that I quoted from a fearmongering website but that would just as ironic as his reply because you both apparently have fallen prey to the fearmongering of those who have admitted to fearmongering (for $$$ and control).
