And the funeral for our Constitution will be held when?

There is no longer a need for it to be protected from enemies foreign and domestic, {taps plays softly in the background}, on our watch, this generation allowed this nation to crumble from within. And not a shot was fired. May she rest in peace and be remembered for the great nation she once was.

Same thing was said when TJ bought the Louisiana purchase and the south succeeded from the union. But as you can see, our constitution is durable and stil going strong.

Don't loose faith.

She sounds upset that no dealership paid her to keep their doors open. She's still a rookie, folks will come to her with money hanging out of their pockets once some of the old GOP faithfuls retire. They are sure making a killing from health care.

I will take the Louisiana Purchase-------the oil rich land of Louisiana----and the bread basket of the nation-----and will give you the extreme northeast section of the nation as a gift-----which includes the liberal states of New York and Massachucetts with their liberal senators---Clinton and Kennedy, non respectfully------just take your northeast section and leave

And by the way--------the South did not succeed------it was Lincoln who breached the US constitution-------we in the South merely were minding each state's "business"

burn the carrrr...ds

I thought this needed repeating.

Now, I would have burned my customer list; liberal Dems. would not be offended by that, not after B.C. participated in burning draft cards...certainly.

Funeral has been in progress since Lincoln's War.

Not when they declared secession, chose Jefferson Davis as their leader, formed their own constitution and army then fired on Fort Sumpter, that is succeeding.

Who needs accurate history when you have the constitution and the Bible to hide behind?

So let me get this straight.....

The south started the Civil War by firing on their own fort ?

I've heard some stupid things here, but this sure does take the cake.

OK, I apologize for that. I had Johnson & Sumpter confused. It appears mine was the stupid statement.

Repeated demands having been made upon Major Anderson, and upon the President, for the relinquishment of Fort Sumter, and these demands having been refused and the government at Washington having concluded to supply and reinforce the fort by force of arms, it was determined to summon Major Anderson to evacuate the fort, for the last time. Accordingly, on April 11th, General Beauregard sent him the following communication:

Headquarters Provisional Army, C. S. A.

Charleston, April 11, 1861.

Sir: The government of the Confederate States has hitherto foreborne from any hostile demonstrations against Fort Sumter, in hope that the government of the United States, with a view to the amicable adjustment of all questions between the two governments, and to avert the calamities of war, would voluntarily evacuate it.
There was reason at one time to believe that such would be the course pursued by the government of the United States, and under that impression my government has refrained from making any demand for the surrender of the fort. But the Confederate States can no longer delay assuming actual possession of a fortification commanding the entrance of one of their harbors and necessary to its defense and security.
I am ordered by the government of the Confederate States to demand the evacuation of Fort Sumter. My aides, Colonel Chestnut and Captain Lee, are authorized to make such demand of you. All proper facilities will be afforded for the removal of yourself and command, together with company arms and property, and all private property, to any post in the United States which you may select. The flag which you have upheld so long and with so much fortitude, under the most trying circumstances, may be saluted by you on taking it down. Colonel Chestnut and Captain Lee will, for a reasonable time, await your answer.

I am, very respectfully, your obedient servant,
G. T. BEAUREGARD,
Brigadier-General Commanding.
Major Anderson replied as follows:

Fort Sumter, S.C.,

April 11, 1861.

General: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication demanding the evacuation of this fort, and to say, in reply thereto, that it is a demand with which I regret that my sense of honor, and of my obligations to my government, prevent my compliance. Thanking you for the fair, manly and courteous terms proposed, and for the high compliment paid me,
I am, General, very respectfully, your obedient servant,
ROBERT ANDERSON,
Major, First Artillery, Commanding.

Conservatives don't "hide behind" them...they hold both in high esteem....but the Constitution is not in the Bible's class. One is inspired by God, his word...the way that we know who God is...the other is simply a great foundation for our nation's government. Both deserved to be honored, but nowhere near on the same plane.

I realize this is explanation was a bit simplistic, but it became apparent that your and mr. Snow think so lowly of conservatives; I thought I'd explain how what we really think. Now you're enlightened. Not that the venom will stop...but it will be venemous attacks that are well-informed. You're welcome.

I know you're disappointed to find out that we believe and honor the Bible...and that we value the Constitution. Sorry.

I do think lowly of the conservatives motives and methods. Playing the role victim and assigning everyone horrendous and offensive labels is not very Christian in my view.

I think most of their ideologies like fiscally responsible are good. Do you find it add that most American's call themselves conservative yet the Republican party is shrinking? If you look under that fact you will see others who agree with me.

The Federal Government has been over ruling the Constitution since that great socialist president Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
