Good luck impuning THIS news source....,.

...."We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize," Doig told The Canadian Press.
"We know that there must be change," she said. "We're all running flat out, we're all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands."
The pitch for change at the conference is to start with a presentation from Dr. Robert Ouellet, the current president of the CMA, who has said there's a critical need to make Canada's health-care system patient-centred. He will present details from his fact-finding trip to Europe in January, where he met with health groups in England, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
His thoughts on the issue are already clear. Ouellet has been saying since his return that "a health-care revolution has passed us by," that it's possible to make wait lists disappear while maintaining universal coverage and "that competition should be welcomed, not feared."
In other words, Ouellet believes there could be a role for private health-care delivery within the public system.....

"Top Doctors" will say anything to get more money.
They are alarmists using scare tactics. Have no fear. Our system works fine. I have raised a family of six on it, and never have had any problems.

I have lived in 8 provinces and never had to wait for medical services, and the only province I had to pay was Alberta when physician services cost $5.00 per month for insurance and hospital fees were $1.00 per day!

I have been through 4 strokes and never spent a penny nor waited for services. The only place I had difficulty was in the USA and I had to catch a flight back to Canada for treatment. Even the insurance plan I had didn't cover me..then, it was American based.

If you don't like Canada, stay home. We don't want you here.

    Cheers,

    Jim

So I guess that's as far as you went. Because if you went to the first sentence in the article, you wouldn't have asked such a silly question.

If you read the article, you shouldn't have any trouble answering the question.

What was the difficulty? Did you need emergency treatment? We give that to anyone, regardless if they are here legally or not. Your American-based insurance plan....did it specify that the treatment was to be only in Canada, or did it pay for care in foreign countries? Just because it was an American company doesn't mean you are covered in the U.S.A. I am sorry you had a problem. But the main question is....why does it make it my problem and why should I pay for it?

I read it, that's how I know where the answer is.....try reading it. If you don't see it, read it again. If you still don't see it, you are either too blinded by ideology, or not intellectually advanced enough to waste time engaging in debate.

So I guess your point is that you don't want anyone from the U.S. to use your cheap care....

If you don't like Canada, stay home. We don't want you here.

But when you are in another country, you expect us to take care of you.

If you don't like Canada, stay home. We don't want you here.

    How many Canadian doctors?

From the first sentence of the article - "Canadian Medical Association"

The top doctor is the incoming president of the CMA.

Your question would be like asking how many American doctors when speaking of the American Medical Association.

What is the point in entering into a discussion which is based on the content of an article which you have obviously not read?

I had a different take on this.

When I hear someone who works for a government talk about "re-structuring" and "re-tooling," I usually conclude that they are seeking an increase in funding.

I don't say that to impugn their character; I think sometimes they really do think the answer is more money.

So my opinion...this probably isn't as big a story as I wish it was...because it's more about one fella asking for more funds than anything else.

(Having said that, you all know what side of the socialized medicine debate I fall on...:D )
