To whomever may have an interest:

I am off this weekend to the Andrew Fuller Center for Spirituality at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary to give a paper on Monday afternoon.

The title of the paper is: "Perspicuity in the Sermons and Pietistic Thought of Basil Manly, Jr."

The material for this paper is taken from our newly released work: Soldiers of Christ. The volume is about the pietistic writings and Basil Manly, Sr. & Jr.

    This is FYI.

BorderStone Press, our newly founded LLC, is now looking at book proposals. If you have one or know of someone who may be looking to "get published" then send them our way.

    This too is FYI!

    "Soldiers of Christ" Book Review

To all who have an ear:

Here is a copy of a book review of Soldiers of Christ. It is the volume from which the conference paper above was taken. For what it is worth!?

    Enjoy (I hope?),

Rhetorician, I am listening to your paper now. My first impression is that it is not to be taken lightly nor started with the idea that one will be entertained (treated to a series of knee slapping jokes), but for the real student of homiletics (sp). My second impression agrees with the first. My remarks are intended to be complimentary not negative.

    Response

    ST,

Thank you for the kind words. Generally speaking, at an academic conference, the papers delivered are just as you are impressed. It is where the "high brow intelligentsia" come together to hear themselves discuss things the average pastor would never care to hear. It is expected of someone who teaches. We are supposed to teach out of the overflow of our research, or so the story goes.

Thanks for the compliment and I hope you were blest.
