Mary Jo Kopechne Can Finally Rest in Peace!!!

    I certainly don't want to speak "ill" of the dead, but, I can't stand by and watch the news shows, FOX included, pour out the praise for Ted Kennedy.

    Everyone seems to have forgotten Mary Jo Kopechne and her family:flower:. The family that had to spend the last 40 plus years missing their daughter because Teddy-boy was reckless, young, and impulsive. Instead of taking the punishment for his poor decision, he went on to accumulate wealth and power, while Mary Jo died way too early, missing out on her chance to be "all that she could be!"

    Teddy snuffed out this bright light way to early in her life, and for a family member to eulogize him [today] as a man who fought for the "rights of all people to live to their fullest..." is a lie when you consider what he did to Mary Jo Kopechne on that fateful night in the deep waters off Chappaquiddick Island.

    In a perfect world, Teddy would have spent hard time in prison, but, his name and heritage did for him what the average American would never get: "A proverbial get-out-of-jail-free-card" because of his families social status in the world of politics.

    I don't doubt that the man did great things in his life, but, his first order of business to humankind was to pay for the life of Mary Jo Kopechne. The satisfaction of seeing her killer serve time behind bars, like any other citizen in this nation would deserve, was what he owed society. Instead, he used his families good name and social status to set his feet on solid ground, thus, a serious injustice was committed by the Kennedy clan.:tear:

    Please understand...as a Christian, and more importantly, as a born-again believer, I am truly sorry for the loss of Ted Kennedy, and pray for his family to feel the peace and comfort of the Lord's presence at this time of loss. I pray for their grief, and ask that the Lord comfort them and dry away their tears.

    Ted will finally face the judgment seat of Jehovah God now that he has entered this next phase of life. It is not my role in this life to judge him, because his sins have finally sought him out. I know that God will review his sin fairly and squarely, and Teddy will finally be on common ground, unable to use the good Kennedy name to shield him from paying for the life of Mary Jo Kopechne.

    Thus I pray for the family of Mary Jo Kopechne . I pray that their long period of waiting for some form of justice, come to a peaceful ending now that Teddy has passed on. I pray for their tears to be eternally dried away for the injustice their daughters life, and I ask that the compassion of a just Lord and Savior draw this family to His Bosom, and heal the years of hate and anger that they must have held within their hearts as they watched and read about their daughter's killer enjoying.

    Kennedy was more than a killer...he was a coward. And with that I say good bye to the last remaining act of injustice by this man they called: the Lion; the center of their family, the man that spent his life "fighting for the rights of women [LOL]...

    It is my understanding that after his car went into the water, Ted swam ashore and went and told a friend that he was going to get the authorities. The next day the friend saw the authorities pulling the car out of the drink and were puzzled about whose car it was. The friend found Teddy lounging in his hotel room, having breakfast.

    It is really baffling how Massachusetts voters could keep sending him back to congress instead of to prison, which is where he belonged.

    I think RD2 made a very appropriate post.
    Its amazing how politicians will tear each other apart in Congress, but the moment one dies, its nothing but praise. I am sure Teddy did some good things, but we can not forget the (very) bad things either. As he said, Ted would have spent time in jail, but his last name happened to be Kennedy.

    Though I do not know his heart, I doubt Teddy is resting in peace.

    He went through the court system. At least in Washington State hardly anyone go to jail for vehicular homicide.

    I do not praise anyone's time of death. I am glad that Ted's influence in the senate is now over.

    I was thinking about Ted's last request and how sad. His dying request was for the legislature to overturn his former position on seat replacement just so a beloved democrat could get his seat. What hypocrisy. Even on his death bed he was still thinking of political expediency.

    Speaking of hypocrisy, I wonder if he was counseled a year ago when diagnose with terminal cancer if he thought it might be better for him not to be a burden on his family and consider just taking a pill as he had wanted the American people to except in their time of "end of life". Do you think anyone talked with him about saving some money and just dying quickly for the common good of the nation?

    Interesting...he has time to make a complaint about disturbance of the peace but not to call for help for Mary Jo. Poor guy could not sleep...great alibi too bad they found the body before he could get his story straight. He should have been convicted of murder or at least manslaughter. And never should have been elected as a US Senator.

    Meanwhile back at his hotel...what! Very disturbing...

    What HYPOCRISY!

    If she wasn't tied to Ted Kennedy, no one here would care at all about Mary Jo Kopechne. You just use her death because Kennedy is a liberal.

    There is no evidence that Kennedy was drunk or that he didn't try to rescue her, but don't let that stop your hypocrisy.

    Kennedy was a scumbag. He profaned his office and the Senate. Glad he's gone.

    I truly don't understand how someone can claim Christ lives in their heart when said heart is filled with such vitriol and hate.

    And yet you can understand how someone can claim that Christ lives in their heart when they support politicians who promote and fund abortion - the slaughter of the innocents?

    There is, though, a clear indication that he had something(s) to hide. Would you wait 10 hours to report such an 'accident' if you had nothing to hide?

    What would you think of someone who knew that a passenger was in their car when the car went under and didn't report it until the next day? This is not a sign of integrity. The reason there was such an uproar was his behavior. Anyone else would probably have had some kind of fine or possibly jail time.

    It doesn't matter to me what party Kennedy was in; I don't like either party.

    I am also amazed at all the praise he is getting here even though he was pro-choice. Does God care about doing good deeds but also endorsing the killing of the unborn?

    This is somewhat off topic, but it begs the question:

    Is a politician's position on abortion alone sufficient to condemn that politician? I'm not referring to Kennedy per se, just politicians in general.
