Seems like they got some pretty interesting thread titles in the (Baptist's Only) section of the forum. I haven't read any yet except for the link DHK gave me to those simple 11 rules for posting in Bible Versions/ Translation section of the (Baptist's Only) forum. Since I am not an official Baptist, I had not read any further and thus avoiding any temptations to forget my place and post. :type:

In any event, hoping that the poll will sway the forum leaders in picking some of those topics and start the thread again to see what the responses will be from the (All Christians) section of the forum. It will probably be more than likely a thread that will be a ministerial outreach, but vote anyway, and hopefully, they will permit all christians to participate in those threads in the (All Christians) section of the forum while maintaining the thread for Baptists only in the (Baptist's Only) section of the forum.

Maybe a forum leader will make up a poll as to which thread(s) to repost in the (All Christians) section of the forum for those of us that wish to read and participate in, by His grace. :wavey:

I don't want to seem "pushy" for making that poll.

    Enow,
Reading your post made me think of something that happened in Germany many years ago. The commissary (grocery store) was only selling hamabuger in 2 pound packs which was to big to put in my small (german) refrigerator. I intended to send a "Sound Off" to the Generals Staff to make appropriate changes. My Sergeant saw the letter and had a simple solution. Buy the two pound pack, use half that night and then put the other half in the fridge.

Well as far as your post, if you see something interesting in the Baptist Only section, just go ahead and start your own thread in the open forums!

PS you say you are not officialy Baptist - hmm I wonder what that means....

the problem is that then people post in 2 places (which drives up post count) and how do the mods determine what is interesting enough to put over.

    I would say no.

Thank you for your reply, Salty.

Kind of leery in doing it because of it might be seen as Spam??

Isn't there also a rule against posting the same thread?

Plus.. the social taboo of looking like a copycat thread stealer. :tonofbricks:

I'd thought that maybe the original poster(s) of these OPs in the Baptist Only section should do it, but in no way is he or she is obligated to continue in the (All Christian) section if they didn't want to.

I am just tiptoeing the subject, hoping the forum leaders will venture forth. If not, oh well.

P.S. I am not a member of any Baptist church, even though I belong to the body of Christ.

    Okay. A vote for no.

I am not sure what you mean by two places when Baptists can post in the Baptist Only section as well as the (All Christians) section.

It is allowing the non-Baptist in the (All Christian) section to participate, irregardless of post counts, as I am sure the thread will take off in different directions as otherwise would be seen in the (Baptist's Only) section.

The mods can do a poll, listing ten threads for those in the All Christian section to vote on to have in the All Christian section. The multiple choice selection in poll making will make it easier for them to tell which one is more interesting. And then pick the top three and go from there.

Even if the poll should happen to show a huge interest, it is up to the mods to decide if they want to do that or not, pending permission from the original posters of the OP of threads that non-Baptists wants to participate in.

I wonder if they are huddling now? :1_grouphug:

Couldn't the mod just move the thread from one forum to the other? That's been done from time to time eg: 'News' to 'Politics'. That would avoid the problem of duplicate posting.

    Matt,
I am sure they could. But on what basis would a mod decide to move it? After a certain number of posts? Or when people from other denoms want it?

Personally, I am against it. One of the reasons I joined was because it was a Baptist board that had areas for Baptists only. Baptists look at things differently and to have to explain or defend what we are talking about to non-Baptists is not just something I want to do.

When I first came here, I only visited the Baptists area. But I have gotten into the political parts. And it's a decision I am rethinking because even though I feel I am correct in my views, I am not certain that I am correct in how I chat about them. So if the decision is made to open it up, I would probably end up spending less time here, which might be a good thing anyway.
