The Obama White House office of New Media sent out a request for proposals (RFP) from technology vendors to gather comments, tag lines, emails, audio, and video from social networking websites, including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and others – any space where the White House “maintains a presence.”

The Proposal # WHO-S-09-0003 requests a bid allowing this project to last eight years, to capture, store, extract this data.

I skimmed over the info in both links you gave and could not find a real REASON for them doing this. There didn't seem to be a ligitimate cause for this survellience so I must assume the worst. Big brother is at it again!:BangHead:

    To silence dissent.

    Evil? Maybe.

    Unconstitutional? Most likely.

They already ended up with egg on their faces over this collecting and misusing names. This is an end run, and they'd like to keep under the radar until it's done.

Like Bush listening in on your telephone conversions? You thought that was good because it kept us safe from "terrorists." Which is it, safe or Nazi?

Folks, read it again. It says collect from mail that concerns the EOP. EOP stands for Executive Office of the President.

After all a Republican insisted the Obama White House begin doing this.

Perhaps you are the one that needs to read again.

"...capture, store, extract to approved formats, and transfer content published by EOP on publicly-accessible web sites, along with information posted by non-EOP persons on publicly-accessible web sites where the EOP offices under PRA maintains a presence..."

This is not about preserving emails.

It is about collecting information at social network sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and YouTube.

The White House puts up a MySpace page and then they get to start collecting information on everyone that posts to MySpace.

The White House puts up a FaceBook page and then they get to start collecting information on everyone that posts to FaceBook.

To just name a few websites. This allows the White House to collect information on everyone at any given website provided that the White House "maintains a presence" - whatever that means.

For all I know, alatide could be the White House presence on the Baptisboard.

It doesn't matter what the article says. These posters aren't interested in the truth, only in bashing President Obama.

    Alatide, CTB, and RS...

You have yet to address the OP. You have so far...
    • Bashed Bush...again...(JustChristian/Alatide does this when he's getting obliterated in an argument. Diversion).
    • Brought up that "Bush was involved in this decision." (CTB...no one here defends who did it. Try and keep up. I know it's hard. We'll wait for you.) You are mistaken greatly to think that if this is a "Bush decision," that we are in any way for it. And just for your info...you do realize Obama is president...right?
    • Slam posters for their views (this is RS's escape hatch when he has absolutely no coherent response).
Now...do you want to try again...this time on-topic and making sense?

Thank you for demonstrating my point that libbies are incapable of reading comprehension.

The article linked to the OP is NOT talking about preserving White House emails.

It is about the White House again collecting information over the internet of their opponents.

"...capture, store, extract to approved formats, and transfer content published by EOP on publicly-accessible web sites, along with information posted by non-EOP persons on publicly-accessible web sites where the EOP offices under PRA maintains a presence..."

Now, Robert Snow, you may remain true to form and send me another nasty PM rather than address the issues.

When would you like this "nasty" PM to arrive? :tongue3:

I won't be sending you any PM. We will just continue to disagree, that's all.

Still waiting for RS, CTB, or JustChristian to address the OP, rather than offer off-topic posts.

Face it. YOu guys have no argument. You've been shown a terrible policy by the administration, you have no answer so you must either ignore it, or divert the topic.
