First it was Gov. Paterson. Now the dean of New York's congressional delegation has played the race card -- and just as the governor did, he's using President Obama to do it, the New York Post reported.

Rep. Charles Rangel said Tuesday that "bias" and "prejudice" toward Obama are fueling opposition to health-care reform.

So where was the racial prejudice in the 90's when America rejected universal Health Care then?

It worked for OJ. The race card still gets played a lot. Since the OJ trial, though, people are much more suspicious whenever someone plays that card.

You're only posting this because of your deep-rooted prejudice against New Yorkers. I'm sending Uncle Tony and Uncle Vinnie to your house. :tongue3:

When my Grandfather was told that he could not say "colored" and " negro", anymore since it was not politically correct, he and my Grandmother told me that they would not donate to the 'United Negro College Fund' anymore, as well as to the 'National Association for the Advancement of Colored People', since they did not want to appear racist.
(And being good Christians, never were.)

Charles Rangel is one of the biggest idiots to ever walk the planet.

If he cries "racism" you can be assured, there isn't.

The race card is just another way of people not wanting to take responsibility for their actions.

"The police officer arrested me because I was black, not because I have a warrant out for my arrest."

"My boss chose someone else to head up a project because I was black, not because I have consistently shown a lack-luster job performance."

One time when I was working as a mall security officer & there was a black dude in a wheel chair stealing some CDs out of a music store. He was convinced to come back to the store & was escorted to the back. After causing the police officer some trouble, he attempted to wheel out of the back room, while the officer was doing paperwork. The officer stuck his arm out to stop him from leaving & the man tipped his own chair over & was flopping around on the floor. After attempting to help him back in his chair numerous times, he kept saying "Don't touch me." So we left him on the floor. After a while, he started saying, "I know why your are doing this to me. You're doing this because I'm black." Everyone in the backroom started laughing (including me) real hard. I spoke up & said, "Okay, if we are racists, then what are they?" I was pointing at a couple of black store employees who confronted him. All he could say is, "I don't know what their problem is."

I believe that racism is real & does exist. If you have proof that a guy is a legitimate racist, then let's see it. The truth is blacks, hispanics, & orientals can be racist too. A racist is not one who judges people as individuals. A racist is one who judges people as a group. I have been hearing it so much that when people continue to play the race card to account for their problems that they caused, that I don't even listen to it anymore.

I wanted to also mention this: Merideth Viera on the Today Show was interviewing Reverend Jesse Jackson. This was shortly after the Michael Richards tirade at a comedy club. She mentioned how he made racist remarks about Jewish people when he tried running for president in 1984. When he was confronted with that all he could say was that NBC doesn't have any black anchors.

He was wrong of course, because Lester Holt (a black man) normally achors the weekend Nightly News & also stands in for Brian Williams when he is not there.

I thought that this was one of the best interviews done by an NBC reporter. They actually backed Jesse Jackson up against a wall, & all he could do was talk about NBC.

I guess those 15 years Bryant Gumbel put in as host of the Today Show are null and void???

I attended a race relations 6-week class. A black man said that Blacks cannot be racists because, they do not have power over whites.

While I'm at it, one person said it was offensive because I referred to myself as a Mutt-American"

Also when I asked the class the definition of racist - no one could give me an actual answer.

The actual claim going around is that blacks do not have enough institutional power to be racist. Of course that false idea went straight out the window in the last election.

Wanna bet the guy wasn't a racist using his ever ready excuse when called on it? That sounds like the Louis Farakhan defence.

I've heard it before. Makes it a tough excuse to use with a black man for president, doesn't it?

This crap is taught in many institutions of "higher learning." Most "african-american studies" teach this pile of sewage.

It's such a dangerous view, because it then gives carte blanche to its holder to feel, and act, with impunity. After all...since they cannot be racist, anything goes.

Like I said...it's an extremely dangerous point of view.

Racism is simply defined as the attitude that one's own race is superior and/or has the right to rule others by virtue of that race, or as a hatred or intolerance of another race or races based simply on that race or races. The definition of racism does not change based on whether your race is the majority, or on whether people in power are of the same race as you.

The notion that a minority race cannot be racist simply because they are a minority is incorrect. Apartheid in South Africa is an excellent example of a white minority oppressing a black majority. By the definition above, the white minorty can't be racist because they were in the minority.

The notion that a certain group cannot be racist because that race is not in power is likewise incorrect. A black POTUS in and of itself dispels that notion. More locally, the City of Los Angeles for years had a black mayor and a black chief of police. Yet many black residents of the city still claimed racism by the police. That cancels that argument completely.

This is also the case for many who use the Liberal Card and the Heretic Card. You know who you are. :D

Exposing someone as a liberal exposes their underlying world view which liberal love to hide so as to appear credible. Heresy is an unorthodox view.Neither scenario is the same as using the race card.
