Being thoroughly disgusted with politics lately and especially with the amazing increase in liberalism and the seeming 'selling-out' of a lot of Republicans I've been starting to research the Constitution Party. Their platform can be found here ----> http://www.constitutionparty.com/party_platform.php

The Republican platform can be found here----> http://www.gop.com/2008Platform/

I'm looking for feedback from anyone and everyone here on BB regarding the CP.

There's so much about the CP that I agree with, but I have to wonder if it's just dividing us conservatives, much like we were divided in 1992 between Perot and Bush. I still feel guilty that I voted for Perot that year! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_1992

    Thanks so much!

I have found the CP in New York to be very narrow minded.

As far as "splitting" conservatives from Republicans, New York has the advantage of the fusion ballot. I am a member of the Conservative Party of NY . We often cross-endorse the Republicans - but not always. At the moment, there is an open seat for Congress - Rep John McHugh has just resigned to become the Sec of the Army. Well, there will be an election to fill the seat. The Republican candidate is very liberal, so the Conservative Party has named our own candidate. It is possible that the seat will go (D) but it is imperative that the Republicans listen to the Conservative Party - and normally they do.

I see your State does not specifically allow fusion - I would recommend that be changed.

So why fusion? When a large number of people vote for a candidate on the Conservative line - that candidates realizes that is the reason he was elected.

Also, many candidates may be on 4 or 5 separate lines. For example, the Veterans Party often endorses candidates. Also, a candidate may run on a "special" line. The purpose is that a voter may not want to vote Democrat, but if that candidate has a "special" line" the vote may be cast for them. For example, our County executive ran as a Republican and on the "A Fresh Start Line".

    Good luck

PS and I recommend you run for office yourself.

Our state has no such concept as a fusion ballot. To make matters worse, if I leave the Republican Party, I lose my right to vote in primaires under a closed system. That should change. Otherwise, I would have left the Republican Party after the last election, as they no long reflect much of what I believe. The Constitution Party platform reflects it very well.

I have read part of the Constitution Party Platform, particularly the sections on life and immigration. I agree with both. I was particularly impressed and agree with the call for a moratorium on all immigration, a very bold approach and one I have espoused for years.. This country is in danger of becoming Balkanized. We need a moratorium to provide time all the new immigrants to integrate into the culture.

I support republicans moving to the CP. I wish a few million more would move before the next election.

Snow, perhaps a good psychologist could help with the damage your father has done to you. "Looking like the south end of a northbound cow, really!"

Sorry! I know it is off topic but Snow obviously was traumatized at a young age and I am just trying to help.

PS, I wonder if he is related to Chrissy?

    Mr Snow,
It looks as though you have lots of time on your hands. May I suggest a hobby. All you will need is binnoculars and tweezers. The idea is to put elephants into a milk bottle. The way you do it is look at the elephant with the binnoculars upside down, and it makes it look real small. Then, take the tweezers and put the elephant into the milk bottle.

Going back to the topic of the OP, i voted CP in this last election, the first time I'd ever voted third party, period . Although I voted for Bush in 2004, I did look into the CP a bit at that time and wondered about voting third party. I was not happy with Bush's last four years and if I had it to do over again, I would have voted third party in 2004.

Although I'll still likely vote Republican in local elections (unless there is a strong conservative running third party), with the way the Republican party has looked in the last couple of years I may never vote for another one of President, at least for the foreseeable future.

Now that I've voted third party once, I have no problem doing it again. I voted my consience and not for 'the lesser of two evils' and I feel very good about doing that.

I'm not interested in being a member of the GOP or the CP.

That being said, the CP needs to find a standard bearer that is serious about running for President.

Houston Texas is a big place. There have been several posters from here. As a matter of fact one of the right-wingers, John Tropass, lives just a few miles from where I live. Maybe I will look up Terry Herrington. As for Dragonfly, it would be difficult to find someone whose name I don't know.
