It is an interesting phenomenon that the response of the left half of our political spectrum to criticism and argument is often to try to shut it down. Thus President Obama in his Sept. 9 speech to a joint session of Congress told us to stop "bickering," as if principled objections to major changes in public policy were just childish obstinacy, and chastised his critics for telling "lies," employing "scare tactics" and playing "games." Unlike his predecessor, he sought to use the prestige of his office to shut criticism down.......

..........I would submit that the president's call for an end to "bickering" and the charges of racism by some of his supporters are the natural reflex of people who are not used to hearing people disagree with them and who are determined to shut them up........

......Similarly, the "mainstream media" -- the old-line broadcast networks, The New York Times, etc. -- present a politically correct picture of the world. The result is that liberals can live in a cocoon, an America in which seldom is heard a discouraging word. Conservatives, in contrast, find themselves constantly pummeled with liberal criticism, on campus, in news media, and in Hollywood TV and movies. They don't like it, but they've gotten used to it. Liberals aren't used to it and increasingly try to stamp it out.

Constructive, rational debate is always better than political inspired bickering. Why not try it on this bb also?

All it says is that two individuals were out of control and broke the law. Do you suppose any Republicans ever broke the law? I could see Bill O'Reiley losing it like this. He's always on the violent edge.

It appears that Rep. Pelosi is correct in her assessment of the current situation. I have followed politics for a long time and have never seen things as polarized as they are now.

You have got to be kidding. Rev. Mitchell runs circles around you when it comes to issues of the day and history. His posts are well thought out and make sense. Yours do not. They are just a bunch of socialist babble with a hint of arrogance attached.

Yep, it's us horrible conservatives, spreading the hate. No liberal ever does that, and no liberal shows disrespect for the President.

This is the kind of treatment President Bush endured for 8 years. But he never complained like crybaby Obama.

And all Joe Wilson said was "you lie". Rather tame compared to this abuse on national television.

I am physically incapable of watching Olberman. The snide looks, sneers and his absolute refusal to speak a kind word about conservatives makes it very difficult for me. I wonder if libs have as strong a reaction against someone like Rush as I have when I watch Olberman. Admitedly I no longer watch Rush for the simple reason that he insisted on playing all audio of BHO at a fast speed, making him sound like a chipmunk... I didn't like that at all and thought it was totally unbecoming, even though I agreed with 99% of what he was saying.
