In a world where sin seems to be more and more present.
In a world where a lot of Christians no longer want God.
In a world where it is getting harder and harder to stand for right.
In a world where right is becoming wrong, and wrong is becoming the norm.
In a world where God's word is not revered anymore...

WHY DON'T WE ALL JUST GIVE UP?

After all, it sometimes feels so useless to go to church and know that people would rather go car shopping than come to church, or go to the movies, because that's the only day off... or do whatever they want...

    Why do we even bother?

If I am honest, that is how I feel a lot of times...

    But I know the answer..

Christ never gave up on us...

    So, my question is...

What keeps you going when the going gets tough?

    What keeps me going?

The fact that the One who created everything I see and that I am.....

Went to suffer a most excrutiating death....

So that I could be His child.....

    And His friend.....

A little suffering here in this world is nothing compared to this.

Brother God called you to preach the word in season and out of season. What you do, do for the Glory of God and leave the hearts of people to Him. If you do that no matter how many people play church and turn their backs to God you are a complete success. And do not let Satan tell you otherwise. And while Satan has got your ear remind him who wins.

It's difficult. Very difficult. Only the indwelling Holy Spirit keeps me going. I've lost my whole family except my husband because they are unbelievers. we have no church to attend because of so much false teaching so we have no Christian fellowship. That's why Jesus tells us in MT. 24 that only the elect will stand firm because the elect have the root and root is the HS. Since as Philippians 2:13 tells us that it is "God who is working in you to will and act according to His purpose", then only those who have the indwelling HS will be able to resist the lies of Satan.

The rest will fall away because they have no root and are doing so in droves. The good news is that this is definitely a sign that we are getting close to the end. But unfortunately, it's going to get much worse before Christ returns.

But we still are enduring nothing compared to the early Christians. The cost for following Christ is high indeed.

Glad to hear it. :jesus: But brace yourself; we're in for a rough ride. So what I think of is that everything in the world passes away but eternity lasts forever. Our lives are but a breath.

    Nice question tinytim........

My answer is, because the Lord has shown me what life is really all about, and all that really matters, is staying in the center of His will.......

    Ecclesiastes 12:13
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.”

    --------------------------------------------------
Also, the apostles faced the same situation.......

    John 6:66-68
V.66 From that [time] many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
V.67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
V.68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

I wrote this yesterday, after a Sunday School class where I could not get the attention of 2 young girls for the entire class. This is why I keep going!
    God Can!

    “Love the Lord your God
    With all your heart –“

But we can’t! We love anything else!
Our hearts turn away from Him,
No matter what we wish to do,
To revel in our daily sin.

    “With all your soul –“

But we don’t! We choose everything else!
    Our souls veer away rapidly,
Clinging not to the One Who died for us,
But latching to the distractions we see.

    “With all your strength –“

But we won’t! We strive hard for the useless!
Our strength is wasted on other stuff,
So that we can sleep instead of worship,
And prove to nobody that we are tough!

    “With all your mind –“

But we haven’t! We think ourselves to death!
Our minds are melted with TV game shows,
Football games, World Series, and dreams
That no one will remember after it snows!

“Love your neighbor as yourself –“

    But we fail miserably again!
We treat our neighbors as total strangers,
We don’t even really love ourselves,
And we guide each other into great dangers.

“Love God, and love your neighbor –“
    We can’t do it, but God can;
    We don’t do it, but God has;
    We won’t do it, but God will;
We haven’t done it, but God did!
We fail, but God loved us enough to die for us,
That we might love Him and our neighbors – in Him!

2Co 12:9 And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may overshadow me.

I have wanted to quit many times. But the cross Oh that wonderful cross

I want to quit almost on a daily basis. I have to remind myself that we do what we do for the LORD, not people. Sometimes when I am complaining to God about how bad I have it, he reminds me that the servant is not greater than his master. If it was bad for Christ while on earth, why should we have it better than he did?

I do not find any difference than in the days of Noah.

Where sin increases God's grace abounds too.

Because He really is God, He has a plan and He will bring it about.
I've wanted to quit, to give up, but the Holy Spirit in me won't let me. I just can't.

Were we not told that in the latter days, this would be so?

Are you NUTS? THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!

We have the signs of the Return given to us in Scripture. Now, more than ever, we have more solid evidence of the truth of the Word as science reveals more about our earth and humans reveal more about true human nature when apart from God.
Now is when we are to stay strong, more vigilant than ever, and look FORWARD to seeing the One we believe in.

After all, it sometimes feels so useless to go to church and know that people would rather go car shopping than come to church, or go to the movies, because that's the only day off... or do whatever they want...

Oh, you already knew that. HA!

    Well, other people don't.

There are plenty of believers who are feeling what you've described. They've never been, or perhaps never wanted to be, discipled. They can't look past the "why is this happening" to the "what should I be doing while this is happening" phase of their Christian life.

    Lack of faith.
    Lack of prayer.
    Lack of selflessness.
Lack of caring about their duty to uplift and help other believers.

Do I get discouraged? Certainly. What keeps me going? Disgust with my surroundings. It's the old saying that goes "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." When it comes to Heaven's and Hell, I want to be part of Heaven's solution. I want Christ. He chose me, and by faith and by His grace, I continue to serve him by choice, by obligation, and because when you honestly love and appreciate someone, you serve them even when it inconveniences you. Even when it hurts. Even when it brings about torment. Even unto death. That is our right, our duty, our joy as believers.
