The Christian of today lives in one of the two most exciting time periods of the world, up to this time. I'm sure that the time of the disciples was an exciting time, they walked with and were taught by the living God in the flesh of Jesus. After the LORD had ascended to the Father they were stalked and killed because of their teaching. Having been a soldier on the field of combat, I know the adrenalin rush of near fatal escapes and I would believe that many of them knew the rush of escape also.

As Christian followers of the LORD today we have some choices to make and I feel that we will make them very soon. If we have kept abreast of the World News we know that in the South of Sudan there are hundreds and some days thousands of Christian men murdered every day and their wives and children are sold into slavery by the Muslims of that country. Many American Muslims will cry out that they are different from these Radical Muslim Sects but there is a very open problem with that statement. The men killing these folks and making slaves are government sanctioned troops and, of course, nothing is done to stop them.

These same people hold the lying, murdering, pedophile, Muhammad up as the most excellent example of what a man should be. No, not just the troops following Osama and no, not just the ones murdering Christians and Osama's troops, every Muslim holds their Prophet to be greater than Jesus. Added to that threat are the laws being passed by the legislators that are serving our safety and good will? The Congress and the Senate have added to the law that protects us from Domestic Terrorists such as the KKK and the American Neo-Nazi Party that now makes Christians that teach that homosexuality to be sin are just as dangerous.

The wheat and the chaff will soon be separated and I feel that our LORD will appear atop that cloud at any time now. Some will say, “But, what about the great falling away?” Others will ask, “What about the final Awaking, the final Great Revival?” I suggest to you, look at Europe and the US, church buildings are being abandoned and those not abandoned are being bombed, the great falling away is all about us. And the final Great Revival, the final Awakening, There are thousands being saved in Asia and Central America... every day!

What do I suggest? Today is a great day to plan what you will answer when you are confronted about your belief. Will you deny Him and live? Or will you profess His name and gain eternal life? It is going to be a very tough choice for those that have not planed.

Throughout the history of Christianity we have had to make that decision.

    But why plan my answer?

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Trust God that He who gave us faith will also give us deliverance or the courage to receive the crown of martydom.

Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

You're right Hank but my message is not to the choir, it is to the pew whales.

    LOL, Ok.

To Webdog: I think it has to do with the following Scriptures

    Matthew 24
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

True, true, true. Far too many are complacent and only prepared for being whisked away to glory rather than taught to prepare for intense confrontations and situations in which they will have to face what may end up being painful physical or spiritual questions.

We stink in the prep dept. on that count, but what can you do with the vast majority of Christians who, unfortunately, believe that any "really" tough times won't happen until after the rapture? Who believe that only an occasional heroic missionary will have to face such choices? Add to that the number of people who are like Peter in his early days, and you have fewer prepared Christians.

    Hmm. What to do.

I still have to worry or wonder about the one who brags (not saying that anyone here is) of how he or she would never betray his or her faith. They will probably be the first to rat on their family and Christian friends. Personally, I hope I will not. I don't think I would. But, I think it arrogant to declare my ability to stand firm when I haven't even faced intense persecution. Peter who declared his complete allegiance and yet caved while under real pressure is a perfect example of what I am saying. Only by the grace of God and in His strength can I ever stand firm. It won't be me who stands firm but my Lord standing firm through me. In of myself I'd sell Him out in a heart beat. All I can say is "God help me."

... I'm new here and there is little known of me but I am a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. I learned a great deal abut people during my three tours of duty there. Like yourself, I will never be able to stand without my LORD standing in me. In Nam I also watched the men that failed to plan "what if" die because they had to stop and think for a second instead of reacting because they were devoted to remaining alive.
... Yes, I know, that is a harsh and cruel way of putting it ad some of you will not like those words but the truth is seldom appreciated. Whether I was in the co-pilots seat or behind my machine gun in the Crew Chief's seat I had to be constantly ready to react and I learned to anticipate disaster ad to plan to live past it.
... From the co-pilots seat I kept my left hand on the throttle/collective and listened for the engine to quit. From the Crew Chief's seat I had my eyes on the terrain surrounding me as well as the sky to the left and rear of the chopper. By being ready, all the time, we avoided a few, otherwise, certain crashes.
... The life application for the message of the OP, in this case, is for the great multitude of the members of the local assemblies that have claimed the name of our LORD in thought and word but not in their hearts.
