Free Seminary lectures on line

    Have you found some good Seminary offerings on iTunes or youtube that you would like to share?

    Some seminaries put their lectures online. Of course you can't get a degree from listening to these lectures, but it is certainly a good educational resource.

    Liberty University has some online lectures on iTunes. There is also a good, though not Baptist, series of lectures from Gordon-Conwell Seminary called "Dimensions of the Faith".

    RBC ministries (Our Daily Bread devotional) has christiancourses.com. They are free Bible courses online. I am currently taking their OT Survey one. They do have programs that you can pay for, but I take the free non-certificate ones.

    If you want some Hebrew and Greek find Concordia Seminary. You can download courses in both. Beware though, if you get both its about a 2 gig download.

    Seminary Lectures

    There are some really good seminary lectures offered through I Tunes. As stated earlier, lectures from Liberty faculty are available. There are also tracks offered from Dallas Theological and Reformed Theological Seminary, as well.
    I have reviewed some courses offered through Dimensions of the Faith by Gordon- Conwell Theological Seminary and found them to be very informative and well done. Any of these options are definitely worth exploring for personal enrichment and knowledge.

    Good education for free

    With the posting of lectures and materials by major universities and seminaries, it is now possible for the self-disciplined learner to get a good education online for free, although with the accompanying degree. Ignorance is no excuse.................

    Sure, if you don't need a piece of paper for professional reasons that proclaim that you have spent thousands of dollars in college, online learning is great for personal enrichment.

    It is also good for enriching one's ministry in the church as a volunteer or Sunday School teacher. It probably doesn't qualify you for ordained ministry, but if that is not your goal, why spend thousands of $$?

    Why?

    Why shouldn't it qualify one for ordained ministry? Qualifying and credentialing are two different things. Wilbur M. Smith, who taught at three major seminaries, wrote numerous books (wrote Peloubets's Select Notes for many years), and pastored for many years, was a recognized, able, and qualified scholar but he didn't have a college degree. A degree does not qualify one for ministry. I am more interested in what a person can do rather than how many degrees he or she holds. There are lots and lots of duds with degrees. What I have done very successfully for over a quarter of a century is outside of my degree areas. I meet so many academic and professional people who are working outside of the areas of their formal academic education. By the same token, I know many with the degrees, who have failed miserably within their field of education.
