:praying:Strange things continue to happen since I planned to cut out forums for a time to devote to my third book. This time a Major, slated to deploy to the mid-East, feared the horrors of war so much that he decided to start a war at the military base he was to deploy from.

This sounds like Obama's spin team messed up again. I would think that the WH spin team could have come up with a better story to cover the truth behind this mass murder.:tear: Let's not forget to pray for everyone that shares in the loss and pain from yesterday's shooting.

The blessing is, the killer lives, and if some crazed/upset family member of a murdered victim doesn't take him out before the trial, we may be surprised to find out the truth behind the "Psycho shrink gone wild at the Hood!"

    Shalom,

    Maybe.

Here's betting that the Obama administration will put on a full court press to hide the truth.

The Major was not going to experience the horrors of war any more in Afghanistan than he had been counseling returning soldiers. Given that he was shouting Allahu akbar, Arabic for "God is great" it is obvious that this was an act of Islamic terrorism.

It is possible the man may have had a plan all along.
For some with ambition either for status, money, or a profession where the competition from the basics up is terrific and calculated to severly cull out all but the most likely to succeed, and where the education and training is so expensive........ the USA military appears to offer a lot of perks, incentives, even advantages over the skills of others who are competeing for the same space in a class or rotation but are of civilian and therefore a more expendable capacitiy when we're at war.

While it would have been horrifying if he had carried out a plan after deployed over there..... it is possible that he would not have drawn the attention which he wanted for his cause or that it would have be excused to the defense of PTSD, a convienient catch all phase for both deserving and non deserving eplanations.. It could have more easily been covered in the confusion and mixed populations of war....... but, here??????????????

    Hummmmmmmmm?

And since the military supposedly wouldn't release him for his desire not to be deployed, nor discharge him at a time when extablishing a private practice might be more lucrative and stable than waiting for a later discharge date?????????????????

But it does sound like what ever figured into his thinking...... he was cold and very calculating as to what he would do, made advance preparations...... according to one report of a Texas gun shop that sold him the guns in August............ increased his identification with his religion by changing from his customary western garb, to the garb which identifies with the eastern culture and often associated with muslim failth, and in other ways trhough behavior and speech was withdrawing from his previous appearance to embrace western culture.

While I agree with some out spoken critics on here who remind us that the fallen and their families need prayer (those killed are pass prayer, those injured and families with hurt and loss and healing of the base), I disagree that we give any patience or space in failing to expess our concerns with the islamic religion. In Europe, this faith is gaining its expression as over and above the law of the land, increasingly. It forces and coerces with threats or terrorism, its damands upon the masses. It uses its own muscle to control or kill among its own people. It has little room for mercy which it views as weakness. The people have no relationhip to God or God to them. The teachers of their book are the substitutes they follow instead of the real God. It is not fair nor would it be safe. for us to allow people of another religion or culture think that we are asleep to such violations on our lives and our freedoms, that we excuse their extreemes and criminal behaviors. And that is what 'suicide bombers; terrorist, lone gunmen 'for allah' are is CRIMINALS using and supperted by the excuses made up by their own religion. They don't understand Gpd who saves, who is meciful, who loves, who forgives, who heals, who restores, who mends, who comforts, who guides, who is present with them and even in them, who understands, who is just in his judgements, or who says that no man is righteous nor ever can be by mans own works...... and only a righteous man can live in Gods kingdom ........and that takes a forgiveness and change so great...... that ONLY God is able to make the way ............... and the sweetest story of all is that it is finished and already done.

I hope that, whatever happens to this doctor, .........and it may be after the injuries which he's sustained that his ability to communicat any of his motivations or reasoning may be loss........ I hope some one is loving enough that God will make a way, and he receives a clear explanation of the gospel of Jesus Christ and receives it.

While I think that, in this world, it is appropriate to hope for justice (and to be selective with mercy), the punishment in the next world is so permanent that I can't see how an honest believer in Jesus Christ could hope for less than mercy..... towards any person...... and be thankful that this is between God and each man's choice.

When it comes to how the military responds to this shooting going forward I agree with Elizabeth Cameron that soldiers should be armed:

    Writes Elizabeth Cameron:

Whatever else his motivations might have been, Dr. Hasan, being a psychiatrist, had instant access to his own drugs of choice; psych drugs, as you probably know, have been connected with a significant percentage of domestic mass shootings. This point will no doubt be ignored by the media, and instead, there will be cries for more mental treatment and testing of military personnel (and more restriction of weapons), which is exactly the opposite of what they need. It is not a small problem: I have learned that overseas, where the soldiers are being medicated for stress at a dramatically increased rate, they are now losing more men to suicide than to battle.

In addition to this, any reasonable person would assume that if they went into a military installation, they would encounter people with guns. That these people were unarmed may indeed demonstrate the paranoia of the state, but it is just beyond stupid. Really, it just defies comprehension — a base full of soldiers, and they are all sitting ducks.

When I get to be king, every soldier on base will be required to carry a sidearm, loaded, for defense of himself and fellow personnel, and the psychs and their prescription pads will be given their walking papers.

Unarmed Soldiers is NO New News....

As a Viet Nam vet, I was responsible for several nights of guard duty while stationed at Fort Ord, CA. I thought it was interesting that when I reported for duty and was given an M-16 with an "empty mag." When I addressed the empty mag with the LT, and asked how I was supposed to fend off a perpetrator, he laughed and told me to fix the bayonet, and run the "bad guy" through!:BangHead:

If there is a paranoia on today's military bases, than it must have existed in the late 60's too!

I think the fact of the matter is, while we are at war, the military felt then and now, that it is not necessary to arm their soldiers with live ammo on a base where civilians also live.

As far as I'm concerned, this is just another crazed muslim, who worships a non-existant god, that thought he was doing the right thing. The only thing missing was an explosive belt.
Heal him, try him, then allow him the right to try to come to the True God in jail while he waits for his turn on the gurny.

I stood guard duty on a dock beside my ship in North Africa during the 1950's with an M1 and an empty clip so tell me about it. At that time there were incidents, though rare, of sailors being castrated and their testicles sewn up in their mouth.

It is only by the grace of God that this country has survived so long. I am afraid that God has taken His hand off this country because of our sins.

Military recruits are not going to be banned based on their religion or lack thereof. One can call for it all one wants but it ain't gonna happen.

The people of every country have always had sins. This fanciful idea that at some point in the past the United States' people were less sinful than they are today is just that - a fantasy.

Perhaps, but they WERE more Godly (as in had a strong sense of truth, morals, and faith in Him) as well!!!!

Sin was not openly glorified, nor was God openly mocked. The average Joe/Jane had a common sense concept of right vs wrong, and did not let the semantics of a crafty lawyer/judge alter the spirit of the law.

You may be correct that people were not less sinful then but they, for the most part in my neck of the woods anyway, weren't proud of their sins and just trusted God for forgiveness and tried to live more by His teachings than openly rebel and count it as a point of pride.

One of the most common traits of any, ANY, politician was to make sure he had a church membership to claim, or he knew he was toast. No, it was not always legitimate, but he knew that if the people did not see some basis for trust, he was wasting his time to run.

Contrast all this with today's society.

So while maybe no less sinners, we (as a nation) are NOW proud that we are sinners and throw that fact in God's face!!!

Just to dwell on the "SIN" side is to deny the grace of God - witness the "man after God's own heart", David; a murderer & adulterer. Most of today's sinners are not that vicious, BUT neither are they sorry for the sins they DO commit.

So the difference is not in the sins per se, but the attitude toward those sins.

Surly you don't believe that the American society is as moral today as it was years ago.

Individually people have always been sinful, but our society has gotten more ungodly over the years. Look at the laws protecting abortion or sodomy. This was not always the case.

I'm tired of being told to pray for the victims families, and not engage the pressing concerns.. You pious ones don't need to tell Christians to pray. That comes naturally.

This PC attitude must be stopped. When our military has its hands tied by PC cuffs, we must act.. Forbidding all Muslims from any branch of the military is a completely logical consequence of the revelations presented here...
