Alleged Fort Hood Gunman a Hero, Says Islamic Cleric With Suspected 9/11 Links

    Monday, November 09, 2009
    By Patrick Goodenough, International Editor

    – The Muslim U.S. Army major accused of shooting dead 13 people at Fort Hood last Thursday was a “hero” who faced a choice of betraying his nation or betraying Islam, according to a radical U.S.-born cleric whose possible links with Maj. Nidal Hasan are now under investigation.

The cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, led a Northern Virginia mosque in 2001 which Hasan attended – along with three of the 9/11 hijackers

He's not a radical Muslim. This is what Islam is about.

Peaceful Muslim is about as possible as satanic Christian. If they are peaceful, they aren't living up to the standards set forth in the koran.

It can make you wonder about all those Muslims living and working around you every day. Could they get a notion to strike out for Allah?

That is not a true statement. The vast majority of Muslims do not commit acts of violence just as the vast majority of Christians do not commit acts of violence.

    Here's the thing.

A true Christian is not violent.

    A true Muslim is violent.

The bible does nto command christians to murdrr people who do not become christians, the koran does command muslims to murder people who do not become muslims.
    big difference.
No muslim can be called a good muslim otherwise.
If their religeous leaders are this blood thursty, then what is the average msulim on the street being taught, especially if they read or are taught from the koran?

    That is not true.

See post #122 in this thread:

Besides that would be like saying that a true Jew is violent and is not really a good Jew unless he joins with other Jews to kill every non-Jew within the borders of what was the ancient land of Canaan.

I reject such thinking about both Jews and Muslims and will not go along with it.

Then your neighbors do not actually follow their own religion. Islam is a violent, hateful religion.

I don't understand your point about the Jews.

    You're funny!

Are you saying Judaism is a violent religion? What do you base that on? Be more specific than insulting my Bible study skills.

There's a thread on this in News/Current Events.

    I posted this there:
    (from link in OP)

This mosque is only 3 miles or so from where I live, which makes this whole situation even more real to me.

Whether Hasan was merely inspired by Awlaki or had deeper ties to him, it is becoming clearer that Hasan did this shooting deliberately because he thought it was wrong for him to fight against fellow Muslims. He even said this several times.

However, the military and U.S. government may whitewash this case and try to make Hasan's actions look like the result of post-traumatic stress disorder or some kind of mental or emotional instability, even though it seems from all reports that he was perfectly in his right mind. [IMG]

Ken, surely you don't equate God's commands to Israel with Muslim's advocacy of killing infidels?

God had Israel fight and overcome the pagans as a judgment. These wars were God's plans and purposes; he initiated them. It had nothing to do with Israel being violent. And when they acted outside of God's orders and plans, they were punished.

    That is a scary thought.

I noticed you posted in another thread that Hasan was assessed recently before the attack. Do you have a link to this information? Thanks.

Comparing Jews and Moslems is apples and refrigerators. And Dr. Ergun Caner ( a former Turkish Moslem) President of Liberty University would disagree with you. Islam is a violent and hateful religion.

It's amazing the lengths people will go to defend Islam. I will not say that every Muslim is wicked, just like I won't say every Christian is good. Surely there are those among all groups of people who are wicked, vile, and hateful. The difference is this: Islam teaches its people to be violent, to kill in the name of Islam, to fight and convert and subject through violent means, etc. Christianity teaches its followers to be merciful, to be peaceful, to love their neighbors as themselves, and to follow the example of Christ who did not revile when He was reviled but rather committed judgement to the Father.

By the way, those old Jews were told that God has established moral absolutes and that they would be judged if they broke them.
