Why are the same old discussions rehashed over and over again on this site? There are at least half a dozen "new posts" that are actually either virtually identical to what has been thrashed out before or it's the same thing rephrased as something else.
Can't a system be installed that at leasts warns people that the topic has been discussed elsewhere then they can go and check it out before launching into the same stuff again.
    Just an observation...

I would say that possibly that over time new members join the board, and also a poster may look at an issue from a different point of view. In addition, at times a thread may be closed.

Sometimes we just like talking about stuff we believe:

    1. Nothing but 5-point Calvinism is the Gospel
    2. America is a Christian nation
    3. Man was made by Special Creation on the 6th, 24-hour day

    etc.

    Agree.

OBG, you would make the same observation on other forums besides BB.

    1) New visitors and posters are not acquainted with the content or archived material and subject searches are not always specific enough to address their concerns without extensive time involved.

    2) Although most forums, like the BB, attempt to organize into broad but smaller sub groups for posting for the benefit of members and value of their time in finding the areas of their interest and gab..... sometimes the subject categories and the subject which one wishes to post are confusing.... 'just where does this belong..... duh? not always clear! In regard to this.... what I find apalling is when a new poster arrives and its clear he/she is new by the number of post and their membership date..... and they get called down, shut down, closed off or in other ways treated disrespectful because they posted in the wrong forum..... when simply moving their post to the correct forum and acquainting them with a brief personal message would be more kind and encourage their visitation and their input.

    3) Some people title their post in vague ways or to catch attention and views without carefully representing the subject of their post in the title..... therefore it may not catch the interest of those who were interested.

    4) It can be simply that a thread starter didn't realize a similar post existed already.

    5) Some forums have caps on postings to encourage turn over and relevance to current interest.... such as the News / Current Events. Sometimes rules are waived to allow active discussions to continue..... but frequently, threads are closed before one may have a chance to view and reply.

    6) In some, there's a recurrence of themes..... Politics, theology, doctrinal issues. Threads which are a repeat of the subject are not necessarily threads which repeat content. Older threads have frequently ended with attacks or subject tangents unrelated to the direction of the OP.

    7) It can be a power play amongst posters to see who can get the most hits or response....... or this could be entirely wrong and just an oversight..... which most probably is the real case.

People come and go on this board, there are always new people who have not been a part of past topics. Such as,, this very thread gets posted at least once a year.

Do you have any new topics that you'd like to throw out for discussion? Help yourself. I like new stuff, too.

If anybody gets tired of debating theological topics, I can direct you to a Baptist forum where theology rarely comes up. A large number of posts on that board are aimed at bashing the Southern Baptist Convention, Dr Albert Mohler (President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) and Richard Land (head of the SBC Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission).

And lately, the new target is Sarah Palin, who's not even a Baptist.

I contribute to that forum, and they're nice folks over there, but they just aren't interested in discussing Bible stuff.

    I like it better here.
