I have bought my step cats Kitty food, but in reality, I got it as a phantom gift for Mrs Salty

Yes for the dog. She'll probably get a big bone from the deep freezer and some doggie treats. I've never bought gifts for hamsters, but this year I plan to give the hamsters any used tissue paper, so they can use it as bedding. It's more for recycling than for a gift, though.

Well there was one infamous incident at my MIL's house years ago when they bought dog jerky for a Christmas gift to Cracker-Jack my longhaired dachshund.

Aunt Polly (who had to be in her 90's and looking every bit of it) offered it as a snack to everybody who came in late.

    ....it tasted like chicken

When I had a dog I always did gifts for her. But now we have a fish (what do you buy a fish??) and a rabbit. The only thing that would rock the bunny's world would be a whole cool ranch Dorito. :) But he's not getting that.

But I do buy gifts for the horses. I always put together a large gift bag with apples, carrots, sugar cubes, iced oatmeal cookies and red and green starlight mints for them. It's for 2 horses (my friend owns them, I ride them) and it lasts us a couple of weeks. :)

Everybody/animal usually gets something if I can manage it, whether they desire, ...err I mean deserve it, or not.

LOL - Not too sure it's healthy for him.

He gets a corner of one if I happen to have any around. He begs for them!

I had to vote "Other" because I don't have a pet, but I used to, and yes, I bought Christmas presents for them (even before I was a Christian).

So I wish there had been a choice for Yes, I did buy presents for my pet(s) when I had one

I buy presents for my pets, even though they don't believe in dog.

I don't have a pet, but other than supplying its needs I wouldn't buy gifts for it if I had one. The only pet I would like is a dog, and I'm very allergic to them. There are supposedly a few that I could have that don't affect my allergies. Also, I live in a trailer and have no room for a pet. If I can ever afford a real house, I will look into getting one of the non-allergenic dogs. The one I'm thinking about is one that I can't spell. I know it starts with an "S" and has an "n" and a "z" in its name and maybe an "a" and a "u", and it ends with "er". I tried looking it up but couldn't find it. Of course, my dictionary was printed when I was still a boy.

Yes, Donna, but I think the "z" is just before the "er'. Does anyone know how to spell that? What I could do is look up non-allergenic dogs and find the spelling that way.

To answer your question, Donna: I won't be getting any dog unless I can afford a real house with a yard.

My wife says I am so into our animals, I took her to a veterinary when she had a cold.

I would't think of not getting them gifts from time to time. We even take bags of dog biscuits to the local SPCA for dogs in rescue, and tin of European biscuits for the staff.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Well, they just got him this summer so, not yet. But it's a good idea! Maybe some doggie downers?? Boyfriend's dad told me last night that Parker ate through the modem cable. Hmmm - maybe then a muzzle??

Yes. Is that the way it's spelled? I thought there was an "h" in there somewhere. The names they give some dogs! That breed comes in three sizes. While I could get the smallest one (which would be more compatible with my small trailer (36' and small compared to a house), I prefer larger dogs. My favorite size would be mid-sized--like a cocker spaniel, which is my favorite dog. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to them.

One time, I had someone come for a visit and kept his small dog in my RV the first night. I got SO sick that he put the dog in a boarding kennel during the rest of his stay. I felt bad about that since his money was short, and I'm sure that wasn't cheap. I should have warned him about my allergy to dogs. I've learned to do that. However, being a dog lover I cannot resist petting friendly dogs--as I did recently-- but I always have to wash my hands before getting them near my face.
