We've always used A Beka, but my youngest needs a more "hands on" approach instead of doing worksheet after worksheet. I've heard SOS is great because the child can work at the computer. Anybody have any experience with SOS or have another program similar that you like?

I used with Chris for 7th and 8th grade. I'm thinking it might not fill your need because really, it is a lot like doing worksheets on the computer.

Thanks, MK. My youngest does better with a "hands on" approach, so I thought maybe the computer would be easier for her than pencil and paper.

Does SOS have sounds or characters moving (like animation) or anything like that, or is it just like looking at a worksheet? If it's just a computer version of a worksheet, I might not get it.

No, it has little guys that talk to you called "Tiny Tutors", videos, and experiments.

Thanks. At least there is some interaction and audio, then. That's a little bit better than her silently staring at a paper . . .
