Just wanted to give a friendly heads-up to an awesome deal @ Lifeway.

I've started to really warm up to the HCSB and Lifeway has this Everyday with Jesus Bible in the HCSB translation for $5.00.

Everyday it covers a few verses.. has a prayer for the day.. and a little message.

I just thought it was a pretty awesome deal and I've enjoyed it these first 2 days of 2010.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for people who enjoy this translation!!!

I wasn't sure if it was that or the Harper Collins revised standard version bible. What version is the Holman Christian?

Not a big HCSB fan but anything that gets people into God's Word on a daily basis is all right by me.

    Mexdeaf,

Why do you not like the HCSB? Just curious.

    Thanks

Nothing doctrinal. Just personal preference. I read through it two years ago and it didn't 'light my fire' so to speak. I am more of an ESV fan and use the NIRV when I want something more colloquial.

If it doesn't include every verse of Scripture, should it have "Bible" as the title?

Wouldn't that apply to a NT with Psalms as well? What else should it be called?

    "Bible" simply means book.

NTs I have state "New Testament" on the cover, not "Bible".

This item sounds like a devotional book. Should Daily Bread change their name to Daily Bible?

That may have been part of the 'textbook' definition but "bible" connotates in today's vernacular that the work is a nearly comprehensive and authoritative treatment of a subject (for example, The Macintosh Bible on the popular Apple computers). The word "bible" is getting tossed about too freely, I think.
